Welcome to the Watch, A_Master!

And don't worry about it, AjK, I didn't notice that either.

Oh, I thought I was simply unobservant. Way to ruin my sense of inferiority. :)

My sense of inferiority has been ruined, too. It is now the worst in the world. Sigh...

Helllo everyone. I'm 36 and first ready the 1st Chronicles back when I was in 6th or 7th grade, if my memory serves me correctly. Since then I have probably reread the 1st and 2nd Chronicles about every 2 years since. I'm an avid reader, but aside from SRD books I really don't read much fiction; with science and history being my primary diet. SRD's writing style and the depth of the characters, especially in the Thomas Covenant books, have me so spoiled that other authors just don't seem to hold my interest in nearly the same way.

I'm not the most sensitive guy in the world and it takes a lot to move me emotionally; however to this day, there are parts of this series that bring me to tears. The Bloodguard leaving their Vow, the pain of Saltheart Foamfollower and the giants of the Search are particularly moving to me. I've yet to be able to find any authors that have been able to touch me in the way that SRD has done and the way it's painfully easy for me to imagine in deep clarity the Land and its inhabitants; thanks to the great storytelling in these books.

I'm almost desperate for the 3rd book in the Last series. I'm a huge fan and it will be nice to communicate with other fans that have the same appetite for these books that I have.

Welcome to the Watch, Mac! We're glad to have you here.

I am a particular fan of the Giants and Foamfollower too. And I think you will find that many people here read the original series at the same timeframe as you did. I first read them when I was around 13, if memory serves. :)

Anyhow, welcome again. :D

I've been a SRD fan since the early 80's. Read all the Chronicles so far(darn long wait for Against All Things Ending), the Gap novels, Mordant's Need, and his two short story collections.

After perusing the forum topics and discussions, it's quite interesting to see other member's interpretations of The Chronicles. Sometimes refreshing, sometimes disturbing, sometimes a great laugh with some of the jokers here!

Great site, glad to be here!!!
