I lost my younger brother back in September and attended his funeral. I thought I'd come to terms with it until the coffin went down. It's like an amputation, or a space that wont ever be filled. Thinking of the future and his absence from it, that he wouldn't be there, was the sadest thing of all.

Thinking of you

My sympathies for you, Damelon. Too fast to make one's peace with it; too slow to spare one the agonizing: must have been tough.

You to, Krazy.

Damelon, lorin and Krazy Kat -- |G

DotD (from two pages back!!): Good news about your kids! :)

I had an off-the-grid weekend. The musical Friday night was surprisingly good, given that I was expecting "only okay" from ther reviews. Saturday was the first day of the annual yarn crawl -- my knitting pals and I hit 5 stores. While I was out, Magickmaker's dad helped her move her furniture to her new apartment. Then yesterday, I spent, OMG, about 12 hours 8O finishing the first draft of the new book, interspersed with packing up Magickmaker's kitchen stuff and handing off the Lady Morgana to her. 8)

So the apartment is now mine, all mine! She picked up the cat at about 11:30, and I was up writing until 2:30am :Z: so I haven't had a chance to pee in all the corners yet...

Between 2 and 3 my cat decided to yowl and repeatedly attack the bedroom door to try to get in. I finally got up and kicked him out of the house.

sigh...........my back has imploded again and I'm grounded. I guess cortisone epidurals don't last very long. Scary stuff. Depressing stuff.

Of course not for good, I love the dang cat, he's just a pain in the butt sometimes!!

Sorry about your shoulder. Did you run out of those drugs you were on? From the pictures you posted, they seemed "highly" effective. :)

One of our cats vomited in a pair of my favourite heels. Normally I keep my shoes in a cabinet because she also had once chewed off the strapps on most of my shoes. Bad kitty! This vomiting on the shoe was really well done, though. It was a long stripe down the sole bit instead of just a clump. She really covered a lot of surface area this way.

That cat's got talent, Ananda.

I'm still getting used to a furball-free apartment. After so many years of feeding cats before I get my own breakfast, it's kind of a switch. :) From all reports, the Lady Morgana is settling into her new digs. So it's all good. 8)

Oh! We saw the space shuttle this morning! NASA is donating Discovery to the Smithsonian. It'll be on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center out by Dulles Airport. NASA loaded it onto the back of a 747 in Florida and flew it up the East Coast today -- taking a victory lap around DC on the way. 8) Pretty cool to see Discovery buzz the Washington Monument....

I've felt kinda blech all day. Kinda just off a bit. I didn't sleep very well so that may have had something to do with it. Then Nori had a run in with this really mean bitchy lady who comes in all the time and I was trying to get freed up so I could handle the situation but we were so swamped that she stormed out. Anyway, I'll post details in my blog.

Damelon, again, condolences--I still feel my Mom's presence everywhere... Everybody else get better!!! Dam I've missed the Watch...

I dealt with the cops twice today and man are they pissed at the school's lack of cooperation and disregard for student safety: Here's what happened: So, I'm getting in my car after dropping my daughter off and this bozo comes flying up to the front office at 40 mph and I press my hand down to try to get him to slow down saying "This is a school zone." After his kid flies out of his car he turns around and revs up like he's going to pass me at all costs, so I go ahead of him at 15 mph (as you should in a school zone). By the time I get to San Mateo I see his face is red and he keeps threatening to get out of his car. As I get on San Mateo he dogs me so closely he bumps my car. So I speed up to 40 to let him pass and NOW he slows down next to me, is wearing a blue bandana covering halfway up his nose in pointing something shiny at me. I'm preparing to hit the brakes and duck down below the window thinking he's going to shoot me, then I see it's a silver pipe/bat he's frantically waving at me. I really had to stop myself from laughing knowing it would make him crazier. THEN he gets behind me at the light at Central and is punching his palm really hard like he's going to "fuck me up" and keeps motioning like he's going to get out of the car. So I start dialing 911 on my phone without him seeing me do it and, for some reason he speeds down Constitution. I'm with the cops on this one-there was another child getting out of a car when he sped up and I really don't want my daughter going to school with a potential maniac lurking around--if he shows up tomorrow we have a big surprise waiting for him.

I wish we would see more of you around here.

if you were in nyc there would be a pic of his license plate at every intersection. They are taking pics now even if you don't run the light.

As for me, my wings are clipped again. Those cortisone shots make you feel like superwoman but like I knew it would, the effects are gone. I think perhaps, it is better not to get the shots. I am leaning toward the surgery now. The neurologist says I have nerve damage. I am going to make another push to get the weight off and do more exercise. Maybe I can delay it for 3 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 5 hours. (my countdown). If I don't it will delay my retirement since I don't have the time to take off, 6 months. And I will have to go into a rehab facility for a month. bummer. bummer. bummer.

I would love to talk to someone here that had a spinal fusion. if there is anyone PLEASE reach out to me.

As you get older, you lose things you had no idea you had.

Like the ability to sleep anywhere on anything, to eat or drink just about anything and feel great the next day, the possibility of procreation, friends, looking good without makeup, going to bed at night not having to remember to take any pills, dreams, illusions, and the feeling of life stretching out endlessly before you.

Still, having to work harder to keep dreams alive and realize them, makes you value them much more. It's either that or get all bummed out about life, which doesn't interest me (and that was so 90s, anyway).

Oh yes, deer. Inability to sleep anywhere (1 and a half hours last night), lots of things I can't eat or drink, lost my procreation equipment 15 years ago, never wear makeup, but I have lots of friends, don't take any pills (except for the odd ibuprofen if I have a headache which isn't often) but take two spoonfuls of Bells Bronchial Balsam with my ovaltine before bed, and I still have goals, if not dreams. Just over two weeks till I hit 60 and life is still good :D
