Right, I tend to agree, having thought about it over the weekend. I'm telling my friends, if you have to see it in the theater for the action scenes then OK, otherwise wait for the DVD release.

Okay, you folks are too spoiler happy. Not saying that you ruin things for me, but rather you overuse the spoiler button. I wanna know how the movie is, but I don't want to know bits of the movie. I checked one spoiler and it basically gave a review without ruining any of the scenes. I'm trying to decide if I wanna see this movie, but everything has a spoiler tag. I've noticed the same in other threads for stuff I have seen. So yeah...use spoilers for things that SPOIL THE PLOT OR GIVE AWAY THE SURPRISES. But saying "it sucks" doesn't need a spoiler blackout.

Yea no-where near as good as i wanted it to be, or expected it to be.

I loved it. I don't understand people hating this movie or saying it sucked. I thought it tied up the characters, bringing a sense of closure to the trilogy.

Yes, it's cheesey. We're talking about a geek who gets bitten by a spider and has super powers . . . and you complain about it being cheesey? It certainly had plenty of dark stuff to balance that out. And I don't think we should forget that it includes kids in its target audience. I took my 6-year-old. He laughed at all the funny parts, and was amazed by the cool parts.

That's not to say that if it's good enough for a kid, it's a good movie. There was plenty of stuff there for the adults. I personally felt the "cheesey" stuff (the tears, the heartfelt speeches, etc.) was earned by the third movie. It had been building up over the entire trilogy. To me, it was emotionally powerful. But I haven't read the comics, so I'm not brining in that baggage.

I thought the character arcs over the three films were logical and ended up where they should. I thought Parker's "turn" with the black suit was done exactly how a geeky kid's dark side should have been portrayed. It was silly, and yet disturbing. I thought it was perfect. Nothing about the bar scene bothered me at all. I was laughing (along with the whole theater) and cringing (not because it was bad!) at the same time.

You want cheese? How about Spiderman being "crucified" at the front of an out-of-control train? Striking his Jesus Christ pose as he sacrifices himself to save the folks? THAT's cheesey (but I liked it, too). Aunt may has cheddar running through her veins. And "with great power, comes great responsibility" is about as cliche as they come. This film just followed the path already set by all the guys who have worn colorful tights throughout comic book history.

I liked the movie except for the quick convenient admission by the butler that createda quick ephipany for a major character.

I am looking foward to the Lizard in the next go-around.

Yeah, the butler revelation certainly had a deus ex machina feel to it, but I've read that it came straight out of the comics. There were lots of other little coincidences that are either going to bug you if you think about them too much, or you'll laugh it off as comic-book plotting. However, this could be applied to the other 2 movies, too. Peter gets super powers at the same time his best friend's dad gets super powers, too? Just in time for him to have a nemesis with conflicts and baggage? How convenient!

I just assumed this is the way comic book plots work, and went with it.

The Green Goblin didn't show up in the comic until issue #14, and his identity wasn't revealed until issue #39. The movies don't have the luxury of taking their time to introduce characters like the comics do, so you're going to get a lot of coincidences like that; you just have to go with the flow of it.

I liked it. Had a few problems with it, but overall... Definately not as bad as X-3.

But one part I really didn't get.

Venom's slinging around (didn't think he could do that, black goo or not, btw) and gets clobbered by the Sandman. Says, 'I've been looking for you... Your daughter...' Yada yada yada. How would he know?

But he's a "journalist." Maybe he did his research. Or maybe the suit retained some of Peter's memories? I don't know. From what I've read, Raimi didn't want to include Venom in this movie, and was forced into it by the studio. So that part feels kind of rushed.

Yeah, the journo part is the best explanation, though if that's the case, it should've been made clear in the story (maybe it wound up on the cutting room floor?). And I thought the same for the other, but there's no way he could've known, either.

I just have to stop watching movies. Especially movies of anything printed that I've ever read and even vaguely liked.

I like it, but I agree with past posts that the first half way GREAT and the second half was GOOD.

Apparently, George Lucas--of all people--thought Spidey 3 was "silly." Yeah, the man who set the standard for serious cinema with Jar Jar and ewoks thinks Spiderman was silly.
