Actually. I got the answer directly from SRD live tonight at the elohimfest dinner.

Donaldson confirmed Lord Foul built it. He said that Foul saw himself as perfect and would have built a perfect and empty place as his home. He said the throne itself was corrupted and imperfect because this was where Foul had to interact with the distateful lesser beings of the Land; and that corruption of the throne was symoblic of his distaste for having to deal with lesser beings.

That was a great question/answer - he also said that the throne and throneroom are in the lowest level of the Creche because Foul had to lower himself to lead/direct his armies.

Yes, and that it was empty because there was no one whom he wanted to share it with, who was worthy of living there, IIRC. Yes, good question!

iQuestor, you got to speak face to face with SRD??? If I saw that guy face to face, I'd be like Wayne and Garth, falling on my face saying "I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy." I think SRD is an underappreciated genius. This thread is so interesting, and until I read SRD's "official" answer, I was going to say that there was something in the GI (I think that's where I saw it) where he said the last four books would take us all the way back to the beginning, even before the Old Lords. I was thinking maybe this question would be answered within these last four books. If SRD came to my area (Atlanta area), I would hope I'd hear about it. I'd be thrilled to hear him speak. iQ, you have my envy
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Rocksister, have you seen the thread about a possible Atlanta get-together?
