Indeed. The total lack of silliness here has always bothered me.

Getting beat up is seldom boring, so you're problem's solved either way. And if she wore high heels while she beat you... Well, I'm sure no further convincing is necessary.

I like the new "Kevin's Pants" title... if fits the theme of the Chronicles

I have an idea, sort of. One of the bass player sites I visit has a pic up top, like ours does, but it also has a different pic for each forum, which the mod of that forum puts up. It would be cool if we could do that here.

Sounds like a great idea, dAN!

I know that SRD does have a sense of humor, but please don't ruin a good thing.
(OK, I know some of you folks are boo-ing and hissing,
and probably even saying that I took this too seriously
and I should get a life.
I said my piece and now I will bow out before I get hurt.)
I'm for one am with you there... Although I worry less about SRD and more about first time visitors to his official forum. People who are in the state of mind to seek out serious discussion about the Chronicles might not be in mood for jokes like this and turn away before they can find out KW has more to offer.

I think Jay and most of us most of the time are able to balance frivolity and seriousness at the Watch and enjoy both. But it's true that occasionally the frivolity gets out of hand, when we allow an "anything goes" mentality to take over, and feelings may get hurt. For some, of course, others' feelings may be secondary to what they feel is the more important objective of scoring a good joke. This is especially true when anybody starts mentioning "pr0n" - which is why I usually abstain from any pr0n-labelled thread. Not necessarily because I'm a prude, but because these things, though they start out fun, almost invariably lead to feelings being hurt, and that's not a lot of fun.
As for new members, well...if I was a newbie to a site, I'd always lurk for a while just to get a sense of what the place was like. If new people are turned off by KW simply because of our little hijinx here, it would be sad, but yeah, maybe understandable...

I just looked at the stats and there doesn't seem to be any dropping off of new members.....

I don't know if it was already suggested, cause I'm tired and don't wanna read through the other posts, but my suggestion would be to go through the Kevinswatch.com site and clean up all the broken links. While the board was down I was on the site a bit and noticed that there were a bunch of links (specifcally under the "Links" page) that weren't functioning any more... anyway... that's all I got.
Hope that's helpful!

I have been off the Watch more than on lately, due to not being able to get or stay on. While I love the idea of bringing back the ranyhyn, and the WGD, I haven't seen anything from Jay about how his defense of his thesis went. I hope I am not jumping the gun in wishing you a hearty 'Mazel Tov!'
And while I love the suggestions offered here, if you're truly bored I have one suggestion for you...
:::finish reading Runes...finish reading Runes:::
(that is, if you haven't already done so...)

News to me as well, Seareach. Where was the announcement? Buried deep within a Runes thread I must have missed?

I do apologize, Jay. Somehow, I totally missed that entire thread.
However, enquiring minds still want to know...
Are hearty mazel tovs in order for the successful defense of your thesis?
