I assume you're talking about Batroc, but I don't know which specific comic. The earliest appearance of him I own is fighting Iron Fist in an issue of Marvel Premier.Esmer wrote:SACRE BLEU!

Ohh...I was wondering about this one in another thread:Menolly wrote:Not vowels, but I hyphenate a vowel in any name of G-d I recognize as such. But to me, it's not nonsensical...
Makes sense now!Menolly wrote:First of all, I must have missed the announcement about you being unoffically engaged. Early mazel tov!! Yay!!!
As far as the surprise aspect goes. Is Chr-sty expecting you to get her an engagement ring, or would even receiving one be a surprise to her? The answer to that would affect my advice.

I keep forgetting that new Watch members continually join, and I have to explain my hyphenating on occasion. I take the reasoning explained here, and expand it to all names of G-d I recognize as such. I do it as a sign of respect for all religions, and not to offend anyone.

From what I understand, this is a very respectful thing to do for the gods of others that has it's basis in Judaism - or I'm just nuts.

Yeah, looks like you're right. Just check out Menolly's The Name of God link in her posts. It explains everything! Interesting stuff.Plissken wrote:From what I understand, this is a very respectful thing to do for the gods of others that has it's basis in Judaism - or I'm just nuts.
Yep. I've been around awhile; I just don't talk a lot, but I do like to watch!Fist and Faith wrote:Watch out, Menolly, Tulizar's been here longer than you.

Ooops!! Sorry Tulizar!Tulizar wrote:Yep. I've been around awhile; I just don't talk a lot, but I do like to watch!

Hmm...good question. I have been guilty of typing out both in full. But while I know Asatru uses the Norse pantheon, I think no one uses the Saxon version of the names in worship. And are there still adherants of the Olympian pantheon? I'll have to think upon this and make a conscious decision on if it is disrespectful of me to write out names of g-ds that I am unsure are still being worshipped by someone...drew wrote:How far do you go Menolly?
I mean would you type Z-es? or Th-r?
Nah, not nuts. At least not on this point.Plissken wrote:From what I understand, this is a very respectful thing to do for the g-ds of others that has it's basis in Judaism - or I'm just nuts.

you know, I honestly can't remember, but the closest I could come to matching my memory is The Blackhawks, and the character Andre.....it was definitely a "group" type of comic, but not sure if it was just a cameo series in another series, like Iron Man, or Capn America, or whatever, so long ago, heh.....Fist and Faith wrote:I assume you're talking about Batroc, but I don't know which specific comic.
