Well evidently Texas is full of damn Yankees too....."chicken fried"...... I never heard of such heresy.

loves chicken fried steak....and sausage gravy over biscuits! YUM!

Cube Steak anyone? if not for cube steak, which I love with cheese and onions, mmm mmm mmm, I don't know what me mum would've done to feed us wee urchins.....it was a delicacy then, heh....and don't bother trying to make a sandwich out of it....you be left holding an empty bun trying for your first bite haha....

french fries w/beef gravy.....


and a personal favorite I discovered by accident working in a kitchen: DEEP FRIED PEPPERONI SLICES! yowza! practically burnt, crispy yummy goodness....drool....bacon's good deep fried too.....aaah I miss having a deep vat handy nearby all day....never paying for food.....sigh....

what the @~*= is all this chat about GRAVY on BISCUITS?? Are you all mad?

after a night of hard drinkin, or just bein real hungry, Biscuits n Gravy cures what ails ya.....definitely a wintertime delight

Oh yeah! Sausage gravy with biscuits is great but you left out the grits! Gotta' have grits. Swimming in butter with lots of salt and pepper.

Those look like buns to me. And you can't eat buns with gravy either!!!!!!!

I suppose we can't put strawberries n juice with whipped cream on biscuits either?

I love me some biscuits and gravy. My wife can FINALLY make good biscuits and gravy, but boy - I suffered through many attempts. Same way with fried chicken.

Think of them as something like Yorkshire puddings StoneMaybe.

Still waiting for somebody to tell me what the hell a country fried steak is...

You take a piece of steak, usually a cheaper, tougher cut and you pound it to tenderize it then you bread it and deep fry it. Make gravy out of the drippings and cover it with that. Really nasty stuff. Yech! I always fondly referred to it as "twice-eaten steak".

they're not..they're not buns either...buns have yeast...are yeasty.

biscuits are...well...a thing of beauty. hot from the oven, slathered in butter and jam...oh lord...it's the loveliest thing...
and with sausage gravy...slurrrrp. yummae.

personally...i love biscuits and RedEye gravy.

anybody else like redeye gravy????heh. now THAT is some southern cuisine!! fried coundtry ham and redeye gravy and biscuits. woo hoo!

I just might have something with bacon in for lunch today! Whee!

This is PERFECTLY acceptable!

However, even better - saturate your biscuits (correction, OUR biscuits!) in lots and lots brandy and cover with mascarpone and chocolate!

but anyway, bacon!

Quick update...almost wentwith bacon, but was seduced at the last minute by some swordfish.

I've found it's become quite a quest to find not only a good Club Sammich, but a good Club Sammich with good bacon.....rare roast beef seems a lost art too, sniff.......

I'll be throwing bacon-wrapped marinated shrimp on the grill tonight.
