My wife & I usually don't celebrate VD (Valentines Day)
Why buy flowers that will die within a week,
Buy chocolates that will get eaten by the kids,
Get fancy lovey-dovey cards that will end up in the trash,
Or jewelry that doesn't get worn?

Besides, as with most people, we're broke!
(Someone stole all my WGDs) :D

I always like to take a good walk. Something that's free and usefull, and can easily be turned into a romantic outlet.

The only thing I want to know about Valentine's Day or any other capitalized day on the calendar is: is it a statutory holiday? If so, great! A day off work! If not, I don't care about it.

Since Valentine's Day obviously isn't a holiday, I obviously don't care about it.

I'm with you MM...pay me, give me the day off, and I'll consider buying some random person a Valentine's card.

I've got a friend getting married tomorrow, on Valentine's Day. He told me yesterday that it saves him one gift a year.

Actually, they were looking to get married in the spring but the cost for event was looking to be way too much for a couple for whom it's not the first marriage for either.

But now won't she expect a WOW gift that captures the romance of both occassions?

Well, it's officially St Valentine's day here in Oz so "Happy Valentine's Day, ya all".

Why am I posting this in the anti Valentine's Day thread? Because my partner doesn't believe in it and so...well...I'm not going to be celebrating it. And since I'm not...well..."Down with all this romance and guff" I say! :P ;)

Ah yes, Black Wednesday. That stupid "holiday" invented by the greeting card companies and candy companies to try to make us single folks feel so bad about being single that we buy up all the candy for ourselves....

I bought cards and chocolate for the kids. Aaaaand some chocolate for myself....

We're supposed to get freezing rain here tonight, so I'm hoping to *really* celebrate tomorrow by having a day off work. But it probably won't happen. </Eeyore impression>
