My own taste for King Crimson is limited to their early stuff.

I love In the Court of the Crimson King (especially Epitaph) and like In the Wake of Poseidon and Lizard.

I'm a big fan of the Belew era KC, but I definitely loved them when Greg Lake was in the band. Here's 'Starless':

Adrian Belew is hard for me to appreciate, although I frankly recognize he is an amazing artist and musician. Just...not to my taste.

Crimson... my taste is also mostly Lake and Discipline eras.

I'm not a Belew fan per se... but I love his work w/ Talking Heads and Bowie.

I definitely like the Belew era Crimson better, up to and including their latest. I also like Belew's three disc solo effort. Wonderful stuff. (Includes Danny Carey on drums and Les Claypool on bass).

I've heard Inner Revolution and Here, two solo albums by Belew, are excellent (if you like Beatle-esque stuff). They're from the early 90s and sound nothing like Thrak or his previous 80s stuff.

I'm a huge fan of the 72-74 era ... if for nothing else (and there are GREAT songs there) for their amazing capacity for improve and live exploration of music. I have a couple of box sets wich display this magnificent power live.

Early Crimso is a different beast, and in so many different forms (as they were shifting line-ups almost every album!), but it is a beautiful, hunting beast of music.

And the Belew era stuff (81-02) is, again different ... and which is my second favourite era. The new stuff, post Bruford is ineresting and I am eager to see what they can do (if anything) after the last one, a favourite of mine!

My all time fave studio album of theirs has to be Lark's Tongue in Aspic.
