I am so glad they canceled Firefly.

TV Shows should have theme MUSIC. Not theme SONGS.

That's your criticism of a great show? The opening song?

Well, add Enterprise to that list. Worst theme song ever.

I don't know if it's been said, but I have to add Deadwood to the list. Can't believe they canceled this show.

I never said it was a great show. I could never watch Firefly. I would sit down, and change the channel before the Theme Song was finished.

A great show is not a show that causes people to not want to watch it before it's even properly started.

WOW. You're the only person I've ever met who didn't like Firefly. You must be some kind of genetic variant, a mutant or something. ;)

j/k. To each his own.

It's a shame you didn't watch Firefly cause of the theme song EL, cause it's a great show.

Maybe you should watch the DVDs and skip the theme song. ;)

I did end up watching it on the DVDs after I saw Serenity.

However, I am not alone in my dislike of Firefly; there's a reason it was canceled.

Buffy had a great intro -- NO LYRICS.

Firefly had a crappy intro -- LYRICS.

Theme MUSIC leaves something to the imagination.
Theme SONGs do not.

You're still judging the whole series based on a silly theme song, though. Are you telling me you didn't like the actual show? Or didn't you ever get that far?

You don't get it.

First impressions are the most important ones.

Firefly made a ****ING HORRIBLE first impression.

Statistically, someone has to.

So, what you're saying is that because they added words to the music, you were turned off?

Or did you not like the music either?

(I feel like I'm talking to Jerry, George or Elaine!)

Am I the only person here who liked Space Above and Beyond

One season, and then BAM! Gone (on a huge cliff hanger as well). :(

Bought the complete series on DVD last year, cracking little show.

Honourable mention for "Earth 2" & "The Lost World", the later was pure pap, but very enjoyable and with a ton of eye candy. :D

Yum!

I know one person, besides Mr Emo, who dislikes Firefly - and he dislikes it purely because it conflicted with Dark Angel in some way. He's never actually watched it.

For what it's worth, I have to a theme tune is, without doubt, a ridiculously superficial reason to dislike a series. I didn't like it either, for the whole of my first watch of the series, but I still love Firefly.

what is wrong with this picture?? Firefly was awesome .. the characters were all great .. a great travesty to cancel this show. Loved it ..

not a huge fan of the opening music for that or enterprise .. but actually it grew on me ..

they cancelled Earth 2??? dammit that was a good show .. Dark Angel was good too and that other show that Faith from Buffy was in .. Tru something .. that was a really good show .. is that stil arond?

but Dark Angel got weird when the mutant animal things dominated the second or third season .. second I think

A friend lent me her Firefly DVD set. I'm in the process of watching it now, and for the most part I like what I see. However, I do agree with EL's view that theme SONGS are a dumb way to start off a show.

Enterprise's lame theme song was a serious turn-off. That was pure, untrammelled idiocy. Really, they might as well have gone all the way and hired Bill Murray to sing it. I mean, come on, was I watching Star Trek or the Love Boat? Can you imagine ST:TNG having a sung title theme?

To answer your question MM...NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

A theme song for a sci fi / Adventure series ought to be bold, awe inspiring and adventurous. The theme for Enterprise made me mute my television every time it came on. Firefly isn't Star Trek so though I'm not thrilled with it's theme either at least I kind of get what they intended.
To be honest I wasn't thrilled with the percussion free themes for DS9 and Voyager though they each kind of grew on me after a while.
Hmmm... now that I think of it it always bothered me that STNG lifted it's theme from Star Trek I. I guess I just like to complain. :-)

Oh and by the way. POLICE SQUAD should never have been canceled.
