The operation was modernized some years ago with a wire stand. Over is the default position now, though we used to have a cat that, if you gave him a chance, would bat the roll and chew on the ends. Under deterred him.

We have a dog that bolts into the toilet and start pawing at the toilet roll with the ultimate intent of getting the roll itself. Little bugger!

Makes a hell of a mess.

Had to raise ours three feet up the wall to discourage the cat.

Toilet paper should always be hung with the loose end over the top. Though the toilet paper holders are missing in two of the bathrooms in my new home, so the TP is on top of the toilet tank. Not my favorite, as I prefer a TP holder, but it works.

I don't care how paper towels are hung. Personally, we've had a paper towel holder for years that holds the paper towel roll vertically, so there's no over/under question. And I don't care which side the loose end comes from.

Im with you lol  though feel to note its a weird thing to obsess over yet I do .. if the toilet paper has been placed with the paper releasing under ... I tend to automatically remove it and flip it so that the paper rolls down over the roll.

Humans, amirite? Such odd little buggars

We tend to have a wicker basket placed next to the toilet filled with replacement rolls .. and it is there that the dogs sometimes take an interest .. and boy I do not enjoy picking up shredded dunny roll lol

I use paper towel on a vertical stand so .. well meh .. no issue

TP: over.

Paper towels: I have this weird holder on a stand that insists that you put the roll in so that you have to pull a new one off with your right hand. I'm used to it now, but there's been a learning curve...

We have a couple of small metal stands for paper towel. One somewhat phallic looking the other looking rather like a vertical paper clip on a stand.

Toilet roll - over (my husband insists) :-)

Kitchen roll - we have a home made pole so it comes sideways, question therefore irrelevant
