Jenni Falconer. TV presenter.

Not an actress, but someone I could easily see as Linden.

I've always thought she would make a good Linden for 2nd when it was newer and she was younger (as were we all), and still now for Last.

Cate is my nomination:

I could see her better as Infelice in my mind.

Sorry, but I've never pictured Linden as having that very chiseled, high cheekbone look.

Also, Linden isn't British ;) -- although I don't doubt that an actress of Cate's caliber would be able to adopt a convincing American accent. :)

ahem - Cate is Australian if you don't mind.

And if you've seen "The Gift", you'll know that she can be a) American, and b) troubled.

As for chiseled, she has been described as severe, which to me kinda sounds the same.

Infelice, definitely. Although since she's already played Galadriel it might be too similar for audiences...

Infelice and Galadriel are nothing alike.

Galadriel was a good person.

Oh, I completely agree. I think Cate would be a great Infelice. I'm just saying that they're superficially simple... immortal, powerful, dress similarly, etc. and the average moviegoer wouldn't be able to tell the difference at first.

Heh heh, you got me, Relayer: it was Cate's portrayal of Galadriel that made me think of Infelice. :P

And apologies for getting her nationality wrong, Pendragon. However, I'm afraid Cate still does not fit my mental image of Linden.

For some reason, whenever I picture one of the Elohim in my head, they never appear human.

To explain a bit, I think Cate is a better match for how I picture Linden than Infelice. I'm thinking specifically 2nd Chron Linden rather than Last Chron. If you've only seen Cate in LOTR or even as Elizabeth I, I can see why you're associating her with Infelice.

The commens about Linden's appearance that stand out to me are about how she feels "unlovely" and that her attractiveness is not highlighted by her severity and spartan habits.

Personality wise she's obviously a tough nut professionally and pretty aloof personally, plus carrying around a only somewhat submerged sense of grief.

I just think Cate's got the range and gravitas to be Linden, plus the kinds of looks where she can seem really beautiful, without being over-the-top.

My memory may be a bit fuzzy on the details here.... but I don't seem to remember High Lord Elena skinny-dipping in the EarthBlood....

infelice needs to be someone who is more ... for lack of a better word, catty. Regal, but also smug and condescending and haughty. Someone whom you would never ask for a favor because they would laugh at you, if they weren't disgusted at the thought of your even speaking to them.

Who's the woman that played the witch in the Narnia movie? That character reminds me of Infelice.

No, but she did skinny-dip in Glimmermere ;-)

When I look at the despair on the face of Linden in the Darrell Sweet cover of WGW (that's the image I've had of Linden all these years), I think of people who could play that range of emotion (more than just trying to match physical characteristics)

Michelle Pfieffer. I know getting beyond the age range but perfect for the role.

Jodie Foster seems too restrained to me, but I'm sure could convince me she's LA by half way through the movie, just thru her great talent.

Tilda Swinton. Won an Oscar for her role opposite Clooney a week or two ago.

As the White Witch - in that role, she's pretty good for Infelice actually. Maybe a bit less nasty, but more condescending.

Sorry. Elena has been cast as Kate Beckinsale. We're not taking any more applications. :)
