Physically.
Really?
Of course. She's hot.

Well, not denying that, I just don't recall SRD ever writing TC or LA as sexual characters. We have more vivid rape scenes from SRD than we do tender love scenes. (Not that either is a predictor of literary quality, of course.)
However, play as you will, and, uh, with whatever you will.

Linden's broken. I have a special place in my heart for broken things, and trying to fix them. It gives me hope for myself.
That and Linden's hot.
And I mean like, Buster Poindexter Hot Hot Hot.
Burning Brides hot.
Cities on Flame hot.
I would trade my right testicle for Linden Avery. And several other peoples' testes, too.
Linden is the perfect woman. She knows she's evil.

Wow... Emotional Leper, you are my new hero! This is EXACTLY how I feel about Linden. She's flawed and I absolutely LOVE that about her.
And yes, she's also HOT.
LONG LIVE LINDEN! LONG LIVE THE LINDEN LOVERS!!

Re: Linden's healing of Pitchwife without his consent is actually a very serious breaking of the ethics of modern medicine as practicised in the US (just as her two healings of Stave shatter medical ethics in Runes).
Don't forget that Linden also healed the First of her injuries from the battle with the Cavewights.
Re: Do you think her Mom wanted to die?
The story is actually rather painfully ambiguous about this. Linden's mother did beg for death. People dying in pain from terminal cancer often say that. My mother did. That doesn't mean you follow their commandments, but it's hard as hell to endure when you're helpless to do anything for them. And if we're going to carp about SRD characters doing things to people without consent, let's recall that TC's sin in that regard puts Linden's breach of ethics in the shade. At Least Linden did a good thing in her healings in the Land. You can't say the same about the rape of Lena.
Also, I suggest rereading the relevant lines in WGW: Linden first turned to the Giants when she had determined what she must do to heal the Land. They didn't speak, but they give silent assent and support to whatever she was going to do. It's not like she snuck up behind them and cast a spell on them.

If I remember right, SRD described Linden somewhere... as, physically desirable to men with full breasts. Is that hot? I don't know. LA always struck me as girl who would nice to look at but not to talk to. In ROTE, I got the impression that in her early 40's her physical strength & stamina had waned and that she might have packed on a few extra pounds.

He describes her a lot, at various points. "Gratuitously woman"-ish or -ly, or something like that at one point.
She might be pretty because of her physical attractiveness, but she's hot because of her mind. And the whole kleenexing thing.

OK after reading this forum I just have to reply. First off nothing wrong with an older full figured woman. I like mine full figured so there
On the subject of the healing it comes back to the big thing about this series: people screw up. And plus it may have a point later in the next books. HA HA HA I love the speculation in this series.

To me LA is just about right.. Someone younger than I and can give medical attention when needed.
Then I won't talk about cookies either.

That's funny, because all the mental health professionals I talk to say a desire to die is a sign of mental illness...
Well, just because the so-called experts on something say it's one way don't make it so. As mentioned in this thread, there are numerous situations in which a person might wish to die where the wish itself is not a sign of any sort of mental instability.
On another note, what about this: Linden healing Pitchwife contributed to his grandson, Longwrath's, murderous tendnency towards the super-hot vixen Linden Avery!

Touche', dlbpharmd. I suppose I should have been clearer. I'm only speculating here, but seems like she only did that "correction" to the point where his breathing was helped, not until it was totally straight like ours. But it's a minor point, so I'll hush about it. Our world has these ethical strictures like "don't heal me, I don't want it," then you can sue if they heal you. The Land is a more basic, quasi-primitive society. The Giants would not have ASKED for any healing or help like that. I think Linden knew they would not have asked, even if they really wanted it, but she knew them enough to know that every one of them would have wanted Pitchwife to have help.
Things would have turned out differently if Linden hadn't done this.
Wasn't sure if it was a spoiler, but taking no chances. Been cyber-smacked already in the FR forum by someone who hadn't read it yet, although it was created to allow spoilers.

Thoolah mascot!!
It also proved beyond a reasonable doubt, that the Giants were witness to a grand adventure. The tale of a healer would have been a good story for the Giant, but they had proof. Pitchwife standing tall.

Careful, before Jay puts down that big gun and gets in the yellow thingy, and shouts, "Get away from my forums with those spoilers YOU BITCH!" and hits you in the face, and then you reel and scream and that second set of jaws comes out and is all snappy and then there's a fight and then you get ejected from space and everyone goes into cold storage and they crashland on that prison planet and Newt's dead and that makes EL sad 'cause EL liked the Newt.
To summarise: Posting FR spoilers in TC forum kills Newt.

Dawngreeter wrote:picked up a new giant chic a little less domineering
No no no no.
Perhaps the Giantesses are, by default, more aggressive and domineering than their male counterparts, apart from what Coldspray explained about seeking for fleeting/flighty pursuits in FR, and the men like it that way.

Actually,
all the women we have read about in any greater detail lack "traditional" feminine qualities. The Giantish warriors down to their general figure are women (and they apparently take great pride in comparing the size of one another's biceps...), and attempting to pull a go-an'-make-me-a-sammich-wommyn on figures like Galewrath or Thelma Twofist might just end up with someone getting keelhauled.
Even their names rumor about certain gender-attached qualities. I don't recall any sane male, apart from Bahgoon, possessing one bespeaking belligerence. Whereas added to the two above, we have Bluntfist, Grueburn, etc. No information is supplied as to how The First was named before she adopted the one given to her by Pitchwife. Might have been called Stoneface Starkglare or alike.
Which just makes me think...should Longwrath be considered "girly" by Giantish standards for joining the Swordmainnir?
