DANG! <jealousy rearing its ugly head>... I checked EVERY store in a 100 km radius, from Best Buy, Future Shop, HMV, EB Games, Toys R Us...! every place I could think of... there is not a GH3 to be found anywhere .. except ebay, and I am not willing to pay $135.00 plus shipping for it ..
so, being old has it's benefits here: I can be patient...

I'm not a video game geek, but the Wii is awesome. Cailette absolutely loves Super Mario Galaxy and the Wii Sports games, and I'm a Tiger Woods '08 junkie. It's a shame that the graphics aren't on par with the PS3 or XBox 360, but that's the trade-off for the excellent interface and the $250 price tag.

@!#@$#^@%$%!&$*$%#@$^

So, me and 3 friends were going to split the price for a wii and games. We had actually settled on a wal-mart bundle pack over the web because we couldn't find anywhere else that was stocking it.

And when I check up on it today (we were going to order on saturday):

Love it. Only played the sports game that comes with the system so far, but what a hoot!
Can't wait for other games...!

Any recommendations?

Also Warrioware is fun in a strange and funny way.

Yah, Raving Rabbits sounds very interesting! I have heard good things about it. Must try...
:)
And Holsety, I sympathize, guy... GH3 have been coming out in droves now for the Wii, but the system seems to be late.... <scratching head>
But I did get Guitar Hero 3 and am having a blast!!!!
After a week on easy (yah, I have to .. I started out THAT bad) I finally defeated the devil and got my soul back.
Wii!

Hyperception has finished medium level.
Not well, but he defeated it.
In the meantime, I have had no access to the game in a couple of weeks.
I will wait to start over again...

Oh my gosh...

Y'all have probably heard all about this already, but it's news to me.

I have got to try all of this guy's ideas. It doesn't sound all that expensive at all.

The whiteboard and the virtual reality alone intrigues me...

Okay, I did it. I bought a Wii. I did that on Monday when I was just starting to feel sick. And since then, I've barely played with it because I've felt so ill I can barely stand.

I bought Wii Fit, Super Paper Mario and Wii Play so that I could get an extra controller. Despite being home all day from work yesterday, I've only put in an hour on Super Paper Mario, and less than an hour on Fit. The girlfriend and I unlocked the main things on Play and did some bowling and golfing on Sports that came with the system. I'm really going to enjoy this when I get well.

Thank you tax incentive!

So does anybody have any suggestions for any games? I won't be buying Rock Band or Guitar Hero as I have that on the PS2. I was hoping Paper Mario was the same kinda RPG knockoff it was before, so I'm sad to see that it is just a regular Mario game. Are there any RPGs on this thing? I'm not seeing any.

Super Mario Galaxy is easily the best title on Wii, with Smash Bros Brawl running a distant second. Galaxy isn't a standard platformer by any means, and Brawl is a great addiction-game (though it wears thin if you can't find anyone to multiplay with).

Well...
Beorn likes the Wii Harry Potter, but he enjoyed those on his game cube as well. He does enjoy using the wiimote for casting spells. He says learning the spells with the wiimote was quite challenging.

And then there's Guitar Hero, but I understand that's pretty similar across platforms.

I knew Galaxy was supposedly one of the best that has come out, and was very close to picking that up, but I've always enjoyed Paper Mario more because of the console RPG with action thing. Now it's all action and very little RPG, and that makes me sad. So I might have picked up Galaxy, but then again, I've never been much of a regular Mario schtick player. I'm not real good at the platformer thing, and while this looks like it goes above and beyond, I think I'd need more convincing to pick up that title.

Brawl I would have nobody to play with, as pretty much everyone I would be able to convince to come over would have anything to do with "beat each other up" games.

While I like Harry Potter, I've not played any of the videogames, other than a demo of Quidditch, which was only okay, but buggy, which I know was due to it being a demo. I've thought about picking up one of the games, but will probably only do that when it is cheap.

Now I wish I had waited on Rock Band, as I think I could have downloaded songs on the Wii, but can't on the PS2. And I don't want to buy the whole thing again just for that. Nah, I'll just have to buy a PS3 which I understand the equipment will work just fine on. However, that will be a while down the road. Probably once the new game from the makers of Ico and Shadows of the Colossus comes out.

Don't know if you have already played it, but Lego Star Wars is a lot of fun. My wife does not generally game, but she loves this game. It just came out for the Wii - don't know if they make good use of the Wii-mote or not.

Galaxy is easy, for a Mario. Definitely worth a rent, just for the music alone.

I'm disappointed in Super Paper Mario, myself. I would have loved to seen the idea executed; it looked brilliant on screenshots, but apparently the game hurts itself with lots of backtracking.

Me & the boys have been loving to the Speed Racer game...but for full enjoyment, the wheel is a must.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks! Keep 'em coming.

I have Lego Star Wars on PS2, and enjoy them (both 1-3 and 4-6 episodes), but pretty much play through the story line, pick up a few of the extras and vow to return to collect the rest of everything else, but never do. I'm a bad gamer.

Maybe I'll see about renting Galaxy, if Blockbuster still has that option and will allow me to use my card again.

As for Speed Racer, I'll probably rent that as well, though I'm not much of a racing videogame fan either, so I doubt I'll invest in the steering wheel, and therefore make the game no fun. I saw in another thread that your family was enjoying it though, so maybe I'll give it a look-see and see if it is worth the investment.

Another I was considering was the Zelda game. I've generally not owned many Nintendo systems, but I've played a couple. I found them difficult and at times tedious, but I've not really played any that were 3-D, except for just the beginning of Ocarina of Time when I borrowed a friend's system and realized that it was more of a time suck than he would allow me to borrow it for.

I just returned from the local GameStop where I was informed there is a Final Fantasy Crystal (?) something or other available for download if your Wii is online. Has anyone checked that out yet?
