If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.

For the record, I know all about Mr. Clarke and Return To Forever. I'm a bass player, dammit! If you didn't spend all your time in the Tank, you'd probably know that!Farsailer wrote:If you can expand your musical horizons a bit, try Stanley Clarke.dANdeLION wrote:Nice video. That's really the best sounding live Cream I've ever heard, too. But, Chris Squire is a totally different player; his use of space and dynamics are second to none, and all his bass lines are carefully crafted, while all Jack's really doing here is flailing away on a short scale bass. I really think a better comparison would be to John Entwhistle, but honestly, John's compositions are also better than Jacks.
Dandelion don't tell no lies
Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or cries
Blow away dandelion
I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion
a fate I don't deserve.

Upon looking at this thread, I retract my agreement with Cail that I thought Fripp wasn't expressive as Walsh. Fripp is very expressive, simply moves me more, and he's expressing things in a different way. If he's utterly disciplined and calculated then that's his advantage; he can still play live and be entirely in the "zone" and wowing the audience, and I've seen him play stunning improvisations (it's King Crimson for frick's sake)...
There’s no comparing, really, the two people. They're both going for different pastiches and philosophies (or lack thereof, in Walsh's case), but guitar heroes is such a contentious debate you could make a fighting game out of it...
And yes, Mahavishnu Orchestra: a pleasant surprise. Take King Crimson, remove the power chords and more jazzy.
