Exactly DW. If you're planning on doing anything more strenuous than walking around town with it, steer clear of the HDD players.

Mmm, yes. We won't talk about the girls' iPod Minis' trips down the concrete stairs in various school buildings... Luckily both devices were still under warranty, and Apple will give you a new one if you can say, "I don't know what happened, it just stopped working" with a straight face.

Looks like a good choice Fist, flash players are inherently tougher than HDD so advisable for a device kids are going to be using! Looks like a nice screen for video too.
Nowadays I'm not sure how fragile hard drive MP3 players actually are. I remember back in the old days when you were playing with fire just picking up a running laptop, so I tend to be careful with my iPod and I only use my Shuffle at the gym. I know people who cheerfully run (and one that even plays football) with an iPod video in their pocket and I've dropped mine a few times to no discernable effect. I guess this is because the hard drive typically only spins up every 3-4 songs, to load new songs into the cache, and is only vulnerable during that time. No moving parts is definitely the way to go, but right now anything over 16gb is prohibitively expensive.

Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.
