....I feel like I've let everyone down by not finishing the book.

Perhaps I'll start it up again today...I can read the Hitchikers books anytime.

:LOLS: You're not letting anyone down. But, alas, you'd be missing out on extraordinary fantasy!

But that's the same thing we tell people who put down LFB after the rape. Or the many others who don't read Malazan. Heck, I'm one of the ones who just doesn't care at all about ASOIAF or the Gap series! I read a book and a half of each, and wish I hadn't bothered. Some have tried to change my mind. I pm'd back and forth several times with no less than Avatar about the Gap, but not every book is for everybody. It's a crazy world, eh?

Well, you did quit the Gap just when it was going to get good.

IMHO the Gap started to get good after the first line.

Okay; I made it into the thrid part of the book now.

It's getting a little easier to understand.

One question: Albeit somewhat of a spoiler....
Does anything get resolved at the end of this book?

Have you tried Donaldson's 'Man Who' series? THat might be more to your liking. I personally thing ASOIAF is the best fantasy series I've ever read, but it's also the most frustrating because you have to wait so long between books. The Gap is a rough read for me, but Donaldson eventually winds it up in a way that people mostly get what they deserve.

A Song of Ice and Fire (Fire and Ice?) -- George R.R. Martin. I read the first 3 and liked 'em a lot; before I tackle book 4, I'm waiting for book 5 (a.k.a. the second half of book 4 :) ) to come out.

I've been having the same trouble with GoTM. I managed to get through about 120 pages but only once.
dAN has spoken about these books for a long time and from what he's told me I think I'll really like them I just need to finish the first book to get through the rest. Here's hoping the next time I try is the charm.
