Brought in the new year with a game of Risk (always made more fun with a little champagne). Wild night for the Frost clan, what can I say.

Welcome to oh-Eight.

We were going to crash a New Years Party after midnight, but it was snowing pretty good last night. So we wound up watching one of the local channel's feed of Collective Soul playing at the House of Blues.

2008 has arrived. I'm nursing a large glass of water to help recover from last night, but had a great time getting here.

2006 was a pretty craptastic year for team Dukkha. 2007 was a balm, a benison, a breather, and beautiful in many ways.
2008 is nascent yet, and already seems great. That's the funny thing about hope - When you don't have it, you can't figure out what is missing, but when you've got it, it's like seeing the fabric of the Matrix.
Wishing you all wellness, joy, and a happy quickening of the heart in this grand new year.

2008. Meh.

:P

Or, as one friend said at 3am, "I'm bored of 2008. Is it nearly 2009 yet?"

Harpy Nude Rear everyone!
I had to work today, so I wasn't planning on getting all liquored up, but I did finish off a 6 of the holy nectar, Guinness. I'm a little dried up, and I think that might have more to do with also have a glass of very dry and crappy champagne at midnight, but hey. I got a nice buzz on, and was content.

The girlfriend's friend is in town right now, and she wanted us to spend it with her at some people's house I didn't know but the girlfriend vaguely did. We ran by some of the GF's friends house that I did know and got along okay with beforehand briefly and they were having fun, and I felt like I wanted to have fun too. So I was all ready to enjoy myself, and we get to the other place and it is a few couples who know each other well and just want to talk amongst themselves and discuss people I don't know and snub the girlfriend and I. I tried to enjoy myself, and then the girlfriend and I get some time alone for a bit, and I mention that I'd prefer we go back to the other party where at least they were having fun and not talking about childbirth, how old they feel these days and what teaching is like, none of which I find interesting or can relate to, other than how old I feel. It was swinging around on 11pm, and everyone was finally starting to include us and laugh at my jokes rather than act as if someone just farted and the girlfriend then decides to take off. At first I thought, well, I suppose I can bear it for another hour, but then I think, well, I'd rather spend it with people that I'd honestly like to be around, so we go to the other place and have a good time ringing in the New Year. And then we come home and I go to bed.
Still, I've had worse New Years, and I suspect 2008 is going to be a terrific year.

Happy New Year Everyone! Had fun last night, hanging out with Malik, Malik Jr and Malik's best friend. Got my New Year's Eve kiss as the ball dropped. That always makes me happy.

Now, I just need to recover...13 whiskey shots proved to be too much for me. :)

I just want to state how cold it was, and as I'll be quitting smoking again in the next day or so, I was out smoking in the wind last night. But now I've warmed up, and my balls have finally dropped. No need for a countdown.

Happy '08, everybody!

The girls and I toasted the new year with sparkling cider and set off a couple of party poppers, but did *not* succeed in terrifying the cats (I guess nothing we do surprises them anymore  ).

New Year's Day, we basically slept and ate. Perfect! Tho I just realized that I forgot to serve the blackeyed peas. Crap. I'm doooooomed....

Anyway, yesterday I drove the girls back to college. During the drive down to Roanoke, MagickMaker said, "This is 2008, isn't it? I hate the number 8 -- it's too even and it's all rounded. My favorite numbers are 5, 7 and 17, because they're prime numbers." 8O All I could think of was, "Gee, the other half of the genetic material surfaces when you least expect it...." Thank goodness I didn't say it aloud!

The last couple years I forgot to eat black-eyed peas. The last couple years have been especially sucky. This year, I made sure and ate some. Maybe if you rush them in you, it won't be as crappy. I still have a little left over.

Oh well. I forgot to get herring so the doom is spreading. :)
