I feel lucky that I got to see SRV. My second show was Robert Plant and The Black Crowes a couple of months later.

My first concert was seeing 3 Hungarian rock bands called Omega, Locomotiv GT and Beatrice back in 1979. My first international rock band was I think Dire Straits in Budapest, 1983 I think it was. My fondest memories are for Pink Floyd in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, 1994.

I went to see Ash on the Nu-Clear Sounds tour in, I think, 1997. I thought it was fantastic at the time, but I just can't listen to Ash nowadays, Tim Wheeler's voice grates too much!

*puzzled*
Would you call that a concert, EL? What did they play for, maybe 45 minutes?

I am sorry...I don't intend to come off sounding contrary today, but I'm starting to sound that way even to myself...

Someone opened for them, so yeah, it's a concert.

It's okay. I don't mean to come off as a smug bastard who'd as soon make a girl cry with words as recognise her existance as an intelligent being, but oddly enough, the last few days, that's exactly how I have been coming off.

Geez, dredging up old memories....

Alice Cooper (Welcome To My Nightmare) - 1976?

Luckily I made concert #2 a few years later: Black Sabbath & Van Halen
(IIRC, that was the last time Ozzy was with Black Sabbath and Van Halen was unknown at the time)

Ya know, I wasn't expecting much (I'd only heard the radio hits) but was really blown away, Frampton can really get down.

Same thing with Charlie Daniels Band...I saw them right after that @ George Mason University and all these old people (blue hair and walkers) came to the show thinking CDB would be playing their newer crossover country stuff and instead they threw down some serious rock n roll...the "old people" didn't stick around very long...

Let's see....It had to have been Pat Benatar's "Get Nervous" tour, Lakeland Civic Center, 2/20/83. And then, exactly one month later, I was back there to see Rush on their "New World Tour".

First concert was Elton John at Dodger Stadium in 75, with Joe Walsh and Emmylou Harris. Back when Elton was still (somewhat) cool, although this was about the beginning of the end. Unfortunately we left before this song because the guy who drove was suddenly paranoid that his car had been towed...

Joe Walsh was awesome, this is the tour that's on "You Can't Argue w/ a Sick Mind" ... the Eagles came out and sang harmony on a couple of the songs. Who knew what was coming next?

My 2nd show was the Yes solos album tour in 76 at Anaheim Stadium w/ Gary Wright, Gentle Giant, and Peter Frampton.
