Well white gold is basically a tool for the wild magic ... but surely it is not the only tool.

"In his last days, High Lord Kevin yearned for it in vain."
He didn't have it when he needed it most, and I don't think he ever had it.

I think it's just that white gold wild magic is more powerful than anything, even the pinnacle of Kevin's Lore, and is able to awaken the krill, the Wurm, or anything else it wants to awaken. As well as break the Arch of Time. I don't think Loric or Kevin made or changed the krill to be sensitive to wild magic, it just didn't have any choice but to react to the ultimate power.

I daresay it is. At least the only thing within the Arch of Time.

Yeah alright F&F I think you're right on this one. I agree with you now.

So I wonder what was the mastery the Lords should have achieved to have awakened the krill.

6th ward?

Yes, each ward, after mastering it led to the next. So, if things had worked out the way Kevin planned. The Lords would have found the 6th ward, unlocked and mastered all it's knowledge, then they would have awakened the krill by whatever means Kevin put down in the 6th ward, and wa la Amok would have appeared.
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

Yeah, I presume that complete mastery of the 6th Ward gave them the ability.

And this brings up what I think is an interesting point: Why is the highest part of Kevin's Lore, the thing that leads to the Power of Command, not something Kevin developed? Wouldn't you think that each Lord added to the body of knowledge that was already there? Why didn't Kevin? He didn't come up with anything more powerful than the awakening of the krill, or that would be the signal for Amok.

We don't know that Damelon, Loric, or Kevin became High Lord after the death of their father. Is it possible that Kevin and Loric were operating at the same time, and that Loric fought the viles and made the krill while Kevin was High Lord???

I would think logically each served as a Lord under his father, and perhaps served as High Lord after his father had retired or passed away...
And I can't wait to find out more about their moms...were their moms lords, too? It seems like they might have been, given that the Old Lords lived centuries as other men live decades...
So Kevin might well have been a Lord, or even a High Lord while Loric (and maybe Kevin's mother) were working on the krill...

Yep its certainly weird about the 7th Ward, almost like skimping on effort.

But were they definitely all of the same family line?

Yes, it is. Perhaps it one of those possible cultural differences we were discussing in the suru pa maerle thread last night.
Also, rememebr that in Berek's time they were used to a king, which is usually a form of hereditary monarchy. This was long long past by the time the New Lords came along. 8)

Yeah, its basically 'getting with the times' ... also they were on a bit of a search for where they went wrong last time ... so I'm sure there was quite a bit of "out with the old".

Althought Kevin is the one mentioned as having "lived centuries as men live decades" or however it goes, I imagine Berek, Damelon, and Loric also lived much longer than the typical human, and even much longer than the New Lords. So they had time to have more children. Eventually, they would come up with one that was strong in the Force. Er... Earthpower.

Did Prothall even have any children?

I don't think so. He is always described as ascetic...
Very few of the Lords we see are married, and the majority of those were to other Lords. With the life span issues, that makes sense to me.

Or there's more to Amok than we were to know. He names himself the 7th ward and with knowledge of the 6th ward the Lords might have posed the right questions. The POC is "only" "the secret hidden within the seventh ward". I was thinking maybe The Power That Preserves may have something to do with the 7th ward. I think Mhoram mentioned Something about preservation at the end of TPTP...gonna check it out...

So can we assume that the krill was made only with the intention of it being a weapon?

I assume he made it for one specific reason. And I think the form of a big knife says something about that reason.

But when Elena offers it to Covenant, she says
This is the krill of Loric Vilesilencer son of Damelon son of Berek. With this he slew the Demondim guise of moksha Raver...
But she doesn't say that's why he made it. I don't remember offhand if it says that elsewhere.
