Well...
Miami is a bit of a distance for a show when I have no plans to go there for a few months. Where in sunny "Florida, USA" is the Tropical Heatwave Festival held? I have never heard of it.

I've heard of it, so it's probably here in Tampa.

:D Good luck StevieG! In getting a ticket that is, not in fantasy football!

And Menolly, I did try and google that festival, but could only find details of the 2009 one, and as some festivals (here) move around, I thought I'd better not post.

Are they playing together for the public, or are they just simply going to be in town? And is any of them Neil?

oops just found out it's three of them and some other bloke.....
Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band fans will be delighted to learn that Roger Ruskin Spear, Rodney Slater and Sam Spoons have teamed up with super-pianist Dave Glasson to create more fun, music and subversive diversion in the spirit of this ageless band. Three Bonzos and a Piano will provide a very entertaining, life affirming, ‘hair of the dog' performance, unleashing their Bonzo Dog classics with energetic zip and palaver: Ali Baba's Camel, Hunting Tigers Out In India, Alley-Oop, Trouser Press, Monster Mash, Tent, Can Blue Men Sing The Whites? and many more diabolical Do Dah Band classics.

Robots, smoke, unsuitable medical technology, ancient theatrical props, the kitchen sink and the audience too, all combine to re-create an unforgettable atmosphere. Addictive stuff. You have been warned!

The email is misleading. I got a pair of tickets today for $10 each. The website is offering the $10 price for Today Only, but the email does say through 11:59 pm local time with the date of Saturday, June 26th.

I heard that Santana did not play "Oye Como Va" or "Black Magic Woman", but that may be a rumor from before the encores were complete.

*yawn*

Nope, Rumors were true.
I'll do my best to post a set list tomorrow when I wake up after sleeping off this show. Y'all will have to forgive me; I don't know the titles of most of Santana's discography, so Hyperception and I guessed at the titles in the set list from what tiny bit of Spanish the two of us together have. Hopefully, it will be enough for a true Santana fan to piece the actual titles together.

I will say the band was tight!!
Especially the bassist, Benny Rietveld.

Hyperception and I hit the road for the amphitheatre in Tampa in the midst of a downpour around 5:15. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30, so we knew we were pushing it to get there in time, but he had to work and we needed to make sure Beorn was situated for the night.

Even with the rain for the first third of the trip, we made decent time, and arrived at the parking lot of the Florida Fairgrounds a little less than two hours later. But our parking spot was quite a distance from the amphitheatre entrance, and Steve Winwood had already taken the stage by the time we chose our spot on the lawn. However, the sound from the stage was easily heard from the parking lot, and although we couldn't see him as he took the stage, we were able to enjoy listening.

The first twenty to thirty minutes of Winwood's set seemed to be mostly a jam. If they were songs he has released, they were unfamiliar to either of us, and they ran together.

At 8:00 they stopped playing, and Winwood addressed the audience briefly. Then, the next forty minutes consisted of the following set. He left at 8:40, so played for just over an hour.

Can't Find My Way Home
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (my personal favorite of his)
Empty Pages
Higher Love
Mr. Fantasy
Summer Lovin'

After a half hour break to switch out equipment, Santana took the stage. As I said in the post above, Hyperception and I guessed at the titles of most of the songs.

Ya luego
Maria Maria (West Side Story)
Fou-fou
Corazon destinado

The band then each had individual band solos. As I also mentioned above, the bassist, Benny Rietveld, was particularly a stand out. But they were all really tight.

Then they launched in to Jingo Ba, with a tribute to Michael Jackson's "Mama-say mama-sah ma-ma-coo-sah" at the end.

Steve Winwood then joined them, Santana referring to him as "the anointed one." He played some chords on the organ while Santana did a brief bit of Gershwin's Summertime on guitar, then Winwood sang a song neither of us recognized with the band Santana backing him.

When Winwood left, the band launched in to a medley of songs. I'm pretty sure I heard a lick of Matchmaker, Matchmaker from Fiddler in there, and Hyperception said he recognized some of Hendrick's version of Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. They finished this set off with a nearly full version of the Rolling Stone's Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

Evil Ways
The Love Supreme

Santana then addressed the audience, making some brief politcal statements, but ending with, and I will admit to paraphrasing here, as I am not the quickest with entering text on my phone:

"When you leave here tonight, if you remember just one thing, try to remember this:

"Who are you?

"Light and Love! This is the healing power of the world and of people.

"Who are you?"

Audience: "Light and Love!"

"Who are you?"
"Light and Love!"
"Who are you?"
"Light and Love!"

Ended with So Smooth.

When they came back for their encore they played:

Samba pa ti
and Dance Long in to the Night

Show ended about 10:40. A ninety minute set all told. With the half hour break between acts, it was a three hour show. Definitely worth the $10 admission. :)

With traffic out of the parking lot, and a stop for a bite to eat in Wildwood at Steak and Shake, we got home about 2:30-ish
