I still don't think it's legal, is it?

Not that I care, it was more of a misfired joke.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Nah, you can make DVDs from VHS you purchase, as long as you don't distribute/sell. Some store bought VHS have copy protection though, so not all work. Afterall, they sell DVD recorders that dub from VHS to DVD, they had to expect people would do so. It's true I bought it second hand, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference

Innerspace: Another great, underappreciated film. Definitely deserves a better reputation than it has.

And speaking of British comedies, wasn't there some rumour that "Yes, Minister" was actually a documentary? :o
Galaxy Quest is the funniest movie ever. I mean that.

Yes Minister was regarded to be very accurate. The British civil service would leave work by 5pm to be able to watch it.
It amazed me when I came to Australia that the fictitious Government Department in Yes Minister, "The Department of Administrative Affairs" ie a poke at beauracrats.......... a Departments of Departments, actually exists here!

Blazing Saddles for me followed by Peter Sellars in "The Party".

Hafta admit, I watched half of Spinal Tap a few years ago...and I didn't get it. It wasn't funny.

And the same thing with Blazing Saddles. I freaking love most of his work, Men in Tights, Airplane, Space Balls all crack me up...but BS? It wasn't funny...must be a generational thing... I dunno...

If you don't get Spinal Tap, you have been deprived of the entire experience of music and culture between 1960 and the year after tomorrow.
If you get it, but don't think it's funny, you need to join a band and go on tour, or get out and party more.
If you get it, AND don't think it's funny AND you party, you're a fan of Madonna.

I was born in 1978...and I didn't listen to rock/metal until Metallica's Load...so you can see where this is going...

The Money Pit with Tom Hanks. I can so relate to that. The first time I saw it I literally could not breathe from laughing so hard.

Yes, lorin, The Money Pit is very good. And him laughing when the tub falls through the floor is maybe the funniest thing ever filmed. And this:

i have that sound bit of him laughing. everytime i feel overwhelmed at work i blast it on my ipod. the other sound bit i have is "I need, i need" by Bill Murray in What about Bob (another good comedy, btw). when my entitlement junky clients start bitching at me about needing....I BLAST it. They think I'm out of my mind but the staff cracks up.

There are comedies that used to make me laugh as a teenager, but now just make me smile. Monty Python pretty much tops that category . . . although watching it recently with a 6-yr-old newbie laughing his ass off was great--that brought the hilarity right back, to see it fresh through his eyes.

Speaking of movies for 6-yr-olds, I thought the Spongebob movie was hilarious, and the cartoon show is even better.

Where is the Will Farril love? Anchor Man and Step Brothers still makes me laugh out loud. It ain't comedy unless I can laugh sober, in my opinion. Elf had its moments. Blades of Glory was funny.

Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny.

South Park: BLU still does it for me.

Big Lebowski is great.

Dumb and Dumber is still hilarious. The Ace Ventura movies have held up well.

Airplane movies.

Naked Gun movies.

Hot Shots.

Pineapple Express.

Zoolander.

Harold and Kumar.

40 Year Old Virgin.

Undercover Brother.

What About Bob.

Three Amigos.

God, too many to name.

Can't decide which one:

The Great Lebowski - if this isn't at least in your top 3 of all-time favorite movies, there is something wrong with you.

Amazon Women on The Moon - sort of "sequel" to Kentucky Fried Movie, but much funnier.

Galactic Gigolo - the best B (or C?) movie ever.

Broadway Danny Rose - my favorite Woody Allen movie.

haha good call; Spongebob is awesome; favourite all-time Spongebob scene : Spongebob is sitting in a darkened loungeroom watching a phallic-looking sea anemone wiggling amongst the sea-currents on his tv - his pet snail (Gary) slithers in at which point a very guilty looking Spongeboob turns on the lights and turns off the tv - porn for sea-dwellers ?
The Great Lebowski - if this isn't at least in your top 3 of all-time favorite movies, there is something wrong with you.
haha the Great Lebowski ?? during Mortimers Young's introduction in the special edition dvd he refers to it as 'the Grand Lebowski', and informs us that upon its release in Italy the movie was known as 'Mr. Marijuana' ...
Airplane movies.
yes.
Zoolander.
yes.

I could try to excuse myself by telling you I'm no native speaker and I have to translate movie titles back into English since they usually have different names over here. However, the BIG Lebowski also was the BIG Lebowski here, so no excuse.

I must have had "The Great Gatsby" ion my head - or too much wine in my head. Whatever ...

It happens.

Heck, I was proud of myself for making 6-pack last all weekend, this time. That's Friday and Saturday night, with (get this . . . ) one left over for a Sunday morning wake-n-beer.

Damn recession.

Time to start brewing again.

A six pack won't last for a commercial break over here.
