My favorite 007, well Sean Connary of course. He just had this deadly-calm look about him, but man could he put up a fight.
As far as Bond-Girls go...Diana Rigg(On Her Majesties Secret Service/ Mrs. Peel on The Avengers). The only wife of 007, and the only actress that could upstage Bond( That's why enefectual George Lazenby works so well in this movie.).

I'm still ashamed to keep saying this but I've never seen Her Majesty's Secret Service so I can't really comment on Lazenby or Diana Rigg. One of these days I'll have to break down and buy the dvd. I can't keep walking this earth knowing I've missed a 007. It must not be very popular, I mean I've never run across it by accident on cable or broadcast tv. When I see Bond marathons they still feature Connery, Moore, Dalton and the older Brosnan entries but never seem to include HMSS. Well I grew up with Moore, thought Connery was terrific, snored through the Dalton films and liked Brosnan pretty well but after seeing Casino Royale I have to admit I'm a Craig fan. Lets see how he does with a couple more films before I proclaim him king.

I think I'm the only person in the world who liked George Lazenby. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was my favorite Bond book (I've read them all), and I liked the movie better than any other. It's pretty true to the book, and I love the ending (I mean the last page of the book, with the shocker).

I'll second that! It's the only Bond movie I own on DVD, if that tells you anything. Bought it the day it came out. Saw it twice at the theater.

I agree on all points. I had a crush on Diana Rigg as Emma Peel long before I saw OHMSS. In my mind, it was like having Mrs. Peel teaming up with James Bond. I recall an intriguing speculative question asked elsewhere and I'll repeat it here: can you imagine the offspring of Emma Peel and James Bond? I think he/she would've been one deadly super-spy!

Of course, after seeing OHMSS- especially its bittersweet ending - I was glad to go back to watching Mrs. Peel and John Steed on the Avengers. Steed was Mrs. Peel's rightful partner all along. Just as a point of comparison, Patrick MacNee as Steed had more charisma than George Lazenby ever had as Bond.

On the Bond-Girl thing I have to admit that I always loved the femme-fatale Villainesses.

Barbara Carrera as Fatima Blush.
Grace Jones as Mayday.

If I was an evil overlord I'd probably be too busy recruiting psychopathic hotties to actually take over the world.

On Bond himself I was pleasantly surprised to see Timothy Dalton rated decently by some previous posters. I can remember a scene of his I enjoyed where another agent chides him for thinking that he is the best of the "double-O's". I thought that it was cool that there were unknown agents out there purportedly matching Bond's deeds, and I liked the way Dalton played the scene.
