Weren't ochre robes already done at an elohimfest?
Of course, they could be done again...

Robes wouldn't work. Romeo says it can't look like a costume.

Axbrewder's a possibility. Fistoulari would be good, too (before she blows her hand off). I suppose I could do Linden, but I'd have to dye my hair and figure out how to make a stethoscope look like a regular necklace...

Isn't Axebrewder pretty tall, like 6' 3" or 6' 4"?

Yes - he's huge. I always pictured Brad Garrett (the brother in Everybody Loves Raymond) in that role.

hmmm...to chubby, and too much goofy-face potential for me...but haven't read in a long time, my image is fuzzy.

I always saw Tim Robbins as Brew, He's tall, maybe not that tall, unfortunately he's getting older...

Ron Perlman, maybe? Or is he too cliche now?

Jeff Goldblum fits the size and shape and...hmm...body flow? type, visually...I'm not sure his idiosyncratic delivery of lines fits what I hear, however...
Oh, the guy who played Mithos [sp?] in Highlander series has a good size/shape too [but an accent...hmmm, maybe he can do other accents].

I thought Brew had more bulk to him - which is why I thought of Garrett.

That is my weekend off from work, and it is only about a four hour drive (depending on traffic) so I might be able to come for part of the weekend.

If I do, I probably will not go to the convention (I would only be able to be there for Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday, so it would not be worth paying the money if I am missing so much of it), and probably would not stay at the convention hotel (I have the feeling people probably stay up all night partying and making noise at this thing, and my health will not allow me to deal with that).

But if people would be up to getting together for dinner on Saturday night and/or breakfast on Sunday, I would be willing to head down to (gulp) Columbus ( and as someone from the People's Republic of Ann Arbor that is a HUGE concession. ;) ).

There is not a home OSU football that weekend is there? I have not checked the Poisonous Nut team schedule, but if there is a home game, it will really complicate getting hotel rooms, restaurant reservations, etc. etc. :?

I guess I should also check the Wings schedule to see if Z-berg and the boys will down there at any point over the weekend to kick some Jacket ass.

So would anyone be up for dinner on Saturday or breakfast on Sunday that would not be part of the Con?

That sounds good. I'll have to ask someone about the games (filthy Buckeyes), if there's a Jacket game, we shouldn't have any problems, no one goes to those anymore :P

Yay, Duchess! (We could talk about your bunking in my room that night. I'm staying at the convention hotel. :) )

Actually if the Wings were to be down there that weekend, I would probably attend the game.    My beloved team had a rough season last year with all of the injuries, but will hopefully be up to their more normal asskicking standards this year. And it is really hard to get good seats at the Joe, as the whole lower bowl is usually all season ticket holders. Maybe I could have better luck getting seats close to the ice down there in Columbus. :)

Ali, thanks for the offer, but if I do come down there, my hub and I would probably get a room together. Since my health is still not close to 100% (though I have been slowly climbing out the of abyss) he is still in the annoying "protect" mode, and chances are he would not let me drive down there by myself anyway.

Spouses can be so annoying that way. ;) Okay, thought I'd make the offer anyhow.

OK, I made a reservation (already fully charged on my VISA and nonrefundable in event of cancellation 8O :? ) for the night of Saturday, October 30, 2010 at a hotel called The Lofts which is located at 55 Nationwide Blvd in Columbus. I am hoping by looking at the map that this is within walking distance of the convention hotel...

Hi Duchess!

My plans are to leave Columbus Saturday evening and drive to Dayton to visit my brother for Saturday night before returning home on Sunday. I will try my best to stick around as long as possible so I can visit with you too (it's been 5 years since NYCfest 8O )

See you then!

Well, uh, so... <scuffs toe in dirt>

I got an e-mail from the program coordinator last night. He's offering me a seat on a panel, which I get to pick. And he said I'd be welcome to sign books at the mass autographing session Friday night.

8O 8O 8O

So youse guys are now officially my posse.

But seriously, I checked at calderwoodbooks.com and the softcover edition of my book is available now ($9.95 -- plus shipping, I suppose). Would one or more of you please buy a copy and bring it with you for me to sign? So I don't look like a loser with zero fans Friday night? Pretty please?
