You emotional? Who would have believed it?
Anyway I am voting for the autumn, when the leaves are at their peak. When I have more time I will post a list of cool things to do in and about Boston.
But my sweetie is obsessed with his games and wants me posting there.

Menolly wrote:I have a gut feeling MsMary won't travel to and from a 'fest even on the intermediary days between Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur. And I do agree mid-to-late September seems early for fall foliage. But I have been away from leaves changing colors up north for a very long time.
I had already pointed out in another thread that Columbus Day weekend falls during the intermediary days of Sukkot, with the final two days, Shemini Atzeret and Simchas Torah, starting Sunday night, the 7th, and going through Tuesday, the 9th. For myself, this is not a problem, although currently I don't see me being able to commit to this 'fest. But with Shabbes being every Saturday, and the need to return home before sunset on Sunday night, I do not see that weekend being practical for any Shomer Shabbes (Torah observant) Jews, such as MsMary.
I do not mean to speak for MsMary, and I hope she chimes in before final decisions are made, as she posted she may try to make 'fest if it is held in Boston. Having already met her in person, I would say if she does make it, that would be a treat for all of you who do make it. But MsMary most likely won't be posting before Sunday, since these two days of Rosh HaShana feed directly in to Shabbes this year, so she most likely will not be on the computer any earlier than an hour after sunset Saturday night.
You are correct, Menolly. It would be difficult for me to get away anytime during the fall Jewish holidays because I have to make up my work time for the time I take off. And since I work in a hospital, I would probably have to work some holidays. There's no guarantee I could make it in any case, unless I combine it with a trip to see my daughter (assuming she will be around whenever you decide to have it).

Bump for Rigel.
PEOPLE! We are getting to the time when people need a specific date.
There's an overwhelming preference for autumn and foliage, and a not-insignificant preference for avoiding holy days.
I think the last specific date that was suggested was the weekend of Oct 13-14, which is the weekend after Columbus Day weekend.
So how about a vote for that weekend? If we get lots of nays, we can come up with something else.
October 13 and 14?

I tried to pick unobtrusive dates for people, but I might have missed something. Anyway, these three should give us good options for getting everyone there, right?
It's just too bad we can't do all three of them, of course

But then, we'd want to schedule them in different parts of the country if we did that... Ooh, a Watchers cross country tour!
sigh Probably too much for this year, though

We did that once! Seafest San Francisco and Seafest Denver!
I'm voting for mid-October. Leaves will still be green in September, and by November they'll be gone.

Any objection to merging this thread into the already official thread,
Watcherfest New England! The poll for WHEN! and then locking this one? It may be confusing people.

Consider me interested, but I want to hold off on committing until I am more sure that I will be able to attend.

gah! you merged the old one into the new one, and not versa vice.
Can you now at least put "New England" back in the title so that people don't think location is undecided? See luci's post above. Sorry to be a bother.

Well, yeah. I had to do it that way in order to keep Rigel's poll, which is more relevant than Jenn's at this point.

No bother. Good point. It's been fixed.
