Definitely interesting ideas in these last three posts! I'll only respond to one at the moment. No, Z, I do not meditate. I went to a Buddhist temple about 20 miles away a few times, where they would teach anyone who wanted to learn. Turns out I'm not at all motivated to do it. I thought it would be cool. Always have, from reading and movies and stuff. But it's just not in me.

April or May-October, my wife and I go for a 10+ mile hikes every week, and 3-6 miles at least a few other evenings each week, in the mountains. Lots of fantastic places in the nearby Shawangunk and Catskill mountains in southern NY.

So what does anyone think would happen to my mind if I lost my senses, arms, and legs? I'd likely be extremely angry often. I'd try to figure out a new way to communicate with the world. I'd develop one hell of an inner life. But would I be different? I say No. I'd be the same me, even though I'd be thinking things I hadn't before, due to the extreme circumstances. It would not be a different mind. I do not think it would be less of a mind, consciousness, identity, just because whatever mind you guys think is now in my hands no longer exists.
