I got a double rejection this morning when I tried to post from my iPhone.

"Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /phpBB2/posting.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Damelon I got that ALL the time .. I use iPhone .. now I use this ....

little gem https://pteo.paranoiaworks.mobi/diacriticsremover/

Trust me, it works a treat you won't have ANYMORE problems.

I know it's soooooooooo frustrating

:LOLS:

With this .. above link to the diacritics remover .. posting is a breeze.

When I'm making a quick short post .. I just don't use punctuation at all ie

So youve been sorely missed and youre a legend in your own lifetime.. thats about all I do 😎

Double rejections are tough. You just need to remind yourself that your a wonderful person and one day the right page will come along.

(When you get an error on a website, the website server tries to find a special page for showing you that error. ((Check out this for some creative ones.)) However, some website servers are poorly set up, and they encounter ANOTHER error trying to find the error page. So you get the double error.)

Skyweir, any punctuation you can type from your keyboard is probably just fine. If you have a US keyboard.

Use the link I posted.
Paste what you want to post, click "remove the Diacritics" then copy and paste back into your KW post.
KW doesn't play well with html from other sites.

Circa early 2016, one of Kevin's Watch's administrators, Vain, installed an anti-spamming protective screen, that will potentially reject posts from outside sources for not having the right style of dash, apostrophe, comma, or quote marks. Should that happen, darthbuzz, that you get this message while bringing in text from outside the Watch, I then also recommend using the link that High Lord Tolkien has kindly provided: https://pteo.paranoiaworks.mobi/diacriticsremover/

Sometime when you quote text in an older post on Kevin's Watch (here, "older"="pre-2016"), then you may also need to use the link HLT provided, at times.

And sometimes it's easier to get a post submitted by clicking on the "post reply" than by using the quick reply box.

Sorry that you have encountered difficulty, darthbuzz, as I have occasionally, but these steps should help.

Sorry, not usually that humpy. Was not in a great mood yesterday. Been having a pretty torrid time since 2013 actually.

I will just type it all again. Not very tech savvy. Still using XP and type with 1 finger so it hurts.

Thank you for the support. It is people like you two that will keep me in here.

Not difficult really, if the post gets rejected, hit "back" on the browser, and copy all the text you typed. Then open that link in a new tab, paste the text in, and click "remove diacritics."

Copy the text again, and paste it back into the Watch.

(Writing that out does make it appear complicated, but it's not. :) )

Oh, @CH, fwiw it wasn't Vain, it was just the company who owns the server that the Watch sits on. Bastards. :D

8O I see, and thank you for making that clear. My apologies to Vain (if he ever reads this). :Hail: |V At least I got the anti-spamming screen part right, didn't I? :) I've noticed when I've tried to quote from posts in the Group Readings section, posts made from early in Watch history (not that I expect such posters to reply, but just because I wanted to expand on some point made), that I get the same "406 Not Acceptable" message screen. :?

Yeah, it won't even accept it's own old characters. :D

As for the spamming part, well, partly. :D From what I recall Vain saying it was to prevent script injections into the php modules. (Which generally are used for a type of link spam, although if done correctly might even be invisible to us.)

Of course, if we can circumvent it, I'm sure anybody who cared enough could as well, but like all security, it's about making it counter-productively difficult to do, rather than impossible. You just wanna weed out the opportunists really, by raising the level of effort required.

I just don't understand why it's necessary when I'm pretty sure all the text inputs are sanitised already.
