Stephen R. Donaldson: Haruchai
"I take a sparring class every Saturday morning, and everyone I train with has more speed, strength, and stamina than I do. As they should: they're all much younger than I am. Plus most of them can kick me in the head, and I'm just about flexible enough to reach their waists. "
That is one I would have never called. SRD kickin' and kung fu-ing every sat am. I would like to know: What ELSE does he do that would surprise us? Drive motorcycles? Play in a band?

markjeffrey, check out
here or
here for Killer Words...
I think ambergris/unambergrised, unhermeneuticable, and grue are some champs. Though I don't think I'd ever, supposing I ever met SRD and had a conversation, actually bring it up!

You can pre-order copies of the Last Chrons at Amazon.

Haruchai...I just posted this in the "fandom" thread:
Amazon UK has the paperback up for pre-order, with a release date of October, 2005. The hardcover they have listed as "out of print" or "limited availability" and say you can order it "used", which cracked me up.
They need to fix that. Because right now, the only one up for pre-order on the UK site is the paperback.
Amazon US doesn't even have it listed yet.
So, be careful when you go to pre-order...you may be pre ordering the paperback due out in 10/05.

I think we need to ask some serious questions about Kevin...
Did he know who Lord Foul was/had been when he made him a Lord?
And maybe even settle the great Fist/Furls Kevin Wars once and for all...

LOL duchess! Maybe SRD will instead play referee as the FF vs. FF Main Event commences at Elohimfest.

As long as we disallow them to take their books (excepting those to be signed-not referenced) into the restaurant

(and no fair pinching mine off the shelves before we go!)

But it would drive the two of them nuts if they couldn't use quotes!

Hey danlo, if you can, give SRD a big Two Tumbs Up or a good handshake for me, because I won't be there. How I'll miss the chance to meet that guy...heh. Oh well...I guess I can stalk him when he goes on his Book Tour...heh... So yeah, I hope you all have fun. And make sure you talk about how great Kevin's Watch is often...heh... Or at least see if he can name a character in the Last Chronicles "Jay". Please? Could you ask him to do that favor? Heh...-jay

Don't worry-we've already scripted him to say. "Hi Jay!" at the end of the video

Haha. Thanks danlo, I appreciate it. Like I said, I hope you all have a lot of fun, although I don't see how you wouldn't, heh.-jay
(P.S. Seriously, get a character in the 3rd Chronicles named after me...heh...Kidding.)

Would a Haruchai do? I think "Jay" is too brief for a Giant

Or perhaps Roger Covenant can be nicknamed Jay by his friends

Now I know why my ears were ringing yesterday!!
Who says I need the books to quote???
Our Kevin War has been in a stalemate for months now.

Would someone please ask this queston for me.....
Are the spiritual parallels in the Chronicles intentional or coincidental? If intentional, I really wish I could discuss them with you, and if coincidental and you admit they are there, I would be even more eager to discuss them.
and thanks for keeping me intrigued for so many years.

I'm afraid you'll have to ask him that in person so I suggest you get on the train right now and join us

Cate, check out the Gradual Interview on SRD's official site...
www.stephenrdonaldson.com
In it, he answers questions posted by his readers. It is under "From the Author". He has answered a few questions like the one you just asked.

And his answers are FANTASTIC!!

Thanks, Furls, I haven't gotten around to everything yet. I'm trying to read it all, and it takes time. I will go there now.
Danlo, I certainly wish I was going. I am a victim of circumstance.
Business won't permit it at this time. I hope you all have a wonderful time.
