Cold showers? The Haruchai? You must be joking. They would simply...endure.

No wonder they responded so to the Dancers of the Sea...but that's a tale for another time, I'll be dissecting "Withdrawal from Service" this summer.

Mental cold showers? Might come in handy.... :)

[Alis and Kylan]
Those are Cail and Lylah's kids, you know. Lylah is a merewife, but she's likely to punch you if you call her that. On the bus today, I napped, and had this dream: Kylan was playing with Alis's dress-up stuff (Kylan was the one who took it out of its box in the first place) and Alis was practicing with a sword. As you might guess, it isn't usually like this. Then Nox, goddess of Night, walks into the frame, curlers in her hair, and throws a blanket at me, and I wake up. Needless to say, I shall have visits from the Night Mare for waking Nox up. I can only hope that Kylan will not put on that dress. :(

Turiya's right...I think Blue is my color. Although very fleecy and comfortable, I never felt comfortable in the pink. Go figure...

Whatever did Alis need a sword for? Alis's own body and mind ought to have...sufficed.

Use of alienable means sure as $@#&* got our ancestors (Korik and company) in trouble.

Whoever's teaching Martial Ethics 101 this term? It apparently isn't me.

Her mother's royalty, you know. It really wouldn't do for the princess to drop-kick someone, and swords are pretty. Lylah's words, I swear.
Kylan is a mage, you know.

This just goes to show that crossbreeding of humanoid species can be disasterous. Like this dream:

[I believe the correct word is "Oy" not "Oig"]
Ok, this is one of those dreams like on Charmed when they went back in time and then found out that they were the ones who made the witch cliche. *deep breath, fingers growl at me* In the Westron Mountains, I found out who Cail's parents were. Believe it or not, his mum was an ice nymph. This, oddly enough, was not mentioned in the books, when the ice nymphs so obviously existed. Um, anyway. The haruchai don't like ice nymphs, they see them as a threat. Cails father seemed to possess that stubbornness-trait that most of you have. Threat? But she's pretty! How could something pretty hurt you? Well, Cail's dad, I've seen a lot of very pretty knives and swords and axes. Lady Cail's mum killed Cail's dad, accidentally. She froze him, thinking he was someone else. Needless to say, she didn't know the first think about a kid. (Instead of ruining her figure, they used the life-force technique.) Cail grew up a bit, well, "off his rocker" we might say. I woke up when he was ten years old. My shoe-rack was making noise. :(

Have you ever had a dream about the Land?

Rocksister's post got me thinking about this... sorry if it's been discussed before, I didn't find a topic anywhere.

Have you ever dreamt about being in the Land, or about the characters, or anything? In almost 30 years I actually don't remember it ever happening... as much as these books and what they symbolize mean to me.

If you did, what was it about? Riding a Ranyhyn on the Plains of Ra? Running for your life from the first touch of the Sunbane? Playing pinochle w/ Mhoram?

No, only my vague, shocking dream about the book. It has got me started speculating, and I don't like what my vile mind is coming up with. We have to stay tuned to see the ending.......in 2013.......

I had a 5 night continuous Covenant dream in '81, I think. It started right after the singing of Kevin's Lament. On the way back to his rooms TC became deathly ill and his leprosy also came back, he went into a coma and was taken to a laborium with an completely open air window (I mean that entire side of the room was carved out) with a killer view of Furls Falls. He was dressed in many herbal poultices and wrapped in a gauze-like bandages (resembling a mummy) by three Unfettered and placed on a seven foot altar facing the Falls. One night the dream was a fever-dream Covenant was having in a coma about how singing and magic were affecting him, how small the Lords actually appeared to him.

In the last two TC telepathically called out to be immersed in Glimmermere and tapped directly into Earthpower to heal. And, as he recovered Elena and the Unfettered gave him intense history lessons of the Land and when he began to walk they showed him every living inch of Revelstone.

A 5 night dream series is not easy to forget. I've had a few since but never in such detail, and they were much more mundane.

Danlo,

Wow, that must have been quite some experience! I have had recurring dreams (mostly as a child) but never a sequence like that. TC must have had quite an impact on you at that time (and that is not a bad thing, LOL.)

What, I'm sure, led to the dream series was that I was in the Navy and reading the Covenant books at the same time in '79 and '80, and in early spring of '80 I contracted a strange unknown lymphatic disease they called staph cellulitus. It nearly killed me as I broke two 105 degree fevers. It took 5 million CCs of penicillin and over a week's time to heal. During the first fever a "stone-crushing" voice that I still associate with Lord Foul asked, "Am I scaring you yet?" and during the second fever it said, "Go back to Albuquerque." And, I've stayed here ever since. 8)

Unless my wife & I are visiting her sisters I will not likely be able to make it. Even then it would still be tough since I am the only fan in the family. It is too long a haul from NY. I am sure it would be fun & that you all will have a great time. Springwine for everyone!
