Remind me never to have children.
bah! I don't care if she is his mother, the point is this: She got something back with Covenant... Perhaps she would save Jeremaih first, but not because she loves him more, but because he needs her more.

Why does it come down to who she loves more? I love my husband and I love my children. I don't love Russ any more than I love my children, but I do love him differently. Russ is my soul mate, my life partner, he completes me. My children are my legacy, they are the love's result, they enrich my life in ways Russ does not. But, that doesn't mean I love my husband less...or more for that matter. Love isn't like that. The power of love is infinite. It has no bounds, it has no conditions, it is the ultimate strength. Linden would die for both of them. She doesn't care if Jeremiah receporcates her love for him, she's his mother.
Who does Linden love more? Neither. Who does Linden love? Both. The choice on who to save wouldn't come down to who she loves most. It would come down to who is the most helpless. In this case, Jeremiah. Covenant is a big boy. He can make his own decisions. He decided his fate long ago. Linden tried to "save" him then, and withdrew because HE made his choice to surrender.
It may come down to Linden fighting Covenant to save her son. Covenant is not who he was before. If this is some "past version" of him, it is wrong. There are things going on that are beyond Foul. We are going deeper...
There are other things besides Orcs in the deep places of the Earth.
Sorry, wrong story, I know, had to throw that in there. But, the evil coming to surface in this story is far worse than Foul, far older, residing deep within the bones of the Earth. Something tells me that Foul is going to look like a puppy dog compared to it. And Covenant, (ah! my hero!) is going to be its pawn. And who will fight it? Linden. Who will she save? Jeremiah. Because he is her son.
It really won't come down to who she loves more. She can't save Covenant. He's got to do his own saving.
