Well, many of these are trade-marked brand-name foods invented by marketers, so I'm not sure they count. Marketers, as we all know, are a species unto themselves, and you can't hold the rest of us Americans responsible for them. You got me on scrapple and peanut butter, though. Though you did forget shoo-fly pie, and apple pandowdy.

Spam is indeed weird, but it also won the Second World War:
With Allied forces fighting to liberate Europe, Hormel Foods provided 15 million cans of luncheon meat to troops each week. SPAM became an essential item in soldiers' diets, earning praise for feeding starving British and Soviet troops and civilians. Following the war, world leaders including Dwight Eisenhower, Margaret Thatcher and Nikita Khrushchev all credited SPAM for its role in the Allies' victory.

And btw O my bestest British friends (:D), what's with the custard obsession and the whole thing about naming the evening meal after a hot beverage?

But I don't want to be over-critical, so let me just say that while putting curry on chips (aka french fries) is a very weird thing to do, it is also delicious, and I thank you for the idea. It's almost enough to make me forgive you for Foreigner. :P ;)

Custard is great. Curry on chips is a crime. That's all.

Custard on treacle sponge pudding. Yum.
Although I do hate powder custards - I get the tinned stuff.

My favorite DangerMouse episode ever was the one when the world got covered with custard, and the custard mite at it all and saved civilization. At least I think that's what happened.

But I still don't understand it. :D

This thread reinforces my belief that this was the right place to ask the question about the Orange.

Why isn't Revan in on this one? It seems to me he'd have a whole host of enlightening things to say here.
