You call "it's stupid and childish" a criticism? My friends could make more structured and reasoned critiques after a few beers.Loremaster wrote:But you are acting like it's a sin to criticise it. Why are you getting so worked up over criticism of the book?
It pisses me off, and I'd rather see people talk about TCTC in here when I click on this thread, not continuing the Tolkien bashing. I don't care if I'm not being nice or hurting your "freedom"--that's how I honestly feel. Don't make this into a thing about me taking away your right to an opinion, because us having this argument is expressing opinions right now. I'm just saying "stifle"--if you don't want to stifle, fine, I don't have to click on the thread if I don't want to.Loremaster wrote:What's the "enough ring bashing"?
My point is appreciation can exist without liking something.Loremaster wrote:As for the statement regarding TCTC not being in existence if LOTR was never written; what is your point exactly? That I said it should never been published?

Okay, yes it is off topic. But I posted my criticism and that is that. I dont like the books.Lord Foul wrote:It pisses me off, and I'd rather see people talk about TCTC in here when I click on this thread, not continuing the Tolkien bashing. I'm sorry for attacking your opinion of the Tom Bombadil chapter. In passing, I'll say most of my 80s ramblings are in jest; I like a lot of 80s stuff, have some 80s CDs.Loremaster wrote:Besides, most of your criticisms of the 80s use the same hyperbole I had used, only instead of you flooding this forum with thread after thread, I just posted.
