That's not really what I said. I said that "choosing the most concise and correct way" to say something is how I try to be literate. I didn't describe the condition of not doing that as being anything, nor did I say that there aren't other ways of being literate.
But I am sorry for anything that you felt was insinuated.

There are things in this forum written in 1970 and since. What you post is retained for some kind of posterity.
Psst...Wayfriend...this forum wasn't around in 1970.

I assumed it was an honest mistake. A bunch of the old posts had their dates reset to 1970, thanks to one or another hacker attack....

Okay.
Just mentioning.

Actually, it was 1969.
I tried to find some of those old re-set posts, but I couldn't.

May I say "Thank you" to everyone for airing and sharing about "bad-words"!
I have actually found this thread quite enlightening, and I have found out about points-of-view which I wouldn't have dreamt of.
It has been suprisingly interesting!
Unfortunately at least one person has gotten the wrong end-of-the-stick about why I contacted Jay and began this thread, and I would like to clarify this.
I found the moderator's [ deletion ] of a Covenant-swear word simply HILARIOUS! It made me LAUGH! It added HUMOUR TO MY DAY, and, as such, was a WELCOME SURPRISE!
In using that word, I was simply *following* what I had seen several times *on this site*. (This word is NOT a word I use myself in speech, and I have never ever heard it used, AND, it is *meaningless* to me! )
I used it here only to add a bit of Covenant-flavoured excitement!
Hence my *surprise* when it was deleted!
This is why I asked Jay for *clarification* of what is okay, and what's not. And asked Jay to let everyone know.
I asked this BOTH for the benefit of NEWBIES like myself, AND because it would help the MODERATORS, if people already know what is expected of them.
I see other phpBB forums at different website have *guidelines* for posters as an announcement at the head of each forum.
It strikes me as a sensible idea.
Creator responded to my "Open Letter to Jay" by mailing me a list of regulations that we have all agreed to abide by.
Apparently we all did this when we joined. I had quite forgotten!
It would be a good thing IMHO to have a guideline announcement at the head of each forum as well. I think that it would help things run smoother. (And note, different forums may have different needs for guidelines, and the moderators of each could tailor their notice as appropriate.)
It is just an idea, and it is well-intended.

I've done a total 180 with my thoughts on this after reading this thread.
I think I was posting on that same thread with Falls at the time he was censored.
At the time I was thinking "That's pretty odd" that G-d was edited because "Covenant uses it all the time".
I too thought that it was so unexpected that it was funny/bizarre.
Now I realize that KW is one of the nicest and cleanest boards I frequent and I LIKE IT THAT WAY!!
Rather than trying to figure out what's the lowest point we can acceptably go down to lets shoot for the highest.
WWMS?
What Would Mhoram Say?
I know that he wouldn't say G-d.
No, I'm serious.
Every post should have to pass the WWMS test.

Indeed. I've always tried to behave in a Landly fashion around the Watch. Seems appropriate.

No - it's just not always brown.
And this thread degenerates further.....
