And I'm with Lucimay!
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Again....Drunk and belligerent.

Seriously, I just don't understand why this preachy simplistic mess won an Oscar.

Actually, I did like Crash the first time I saw it. Before it was about racism... you know, back when it was called Magnolia.

I didn't know it won an Oscar. Or at least I forgot. Heh. Anyway, the beauty of the film is that it showed several characters, nearly all of them having done something terrible and/or stereotypical of their race (the locksmith being the only one who was a noble character at all times), and, at the same time, gives you reason to feel something positive for them. Does it forgive their crime? No more than Covenant's crime can be forgiven. But most of us don't exactly hate Covenant because of his crime.

IMHO, the main reason why Crash won Best Picture is because overall, there weren't very many good movies last year. Personally, I would've given the Oscar to Capote.

Wow, musta been a bad year for me, because Crash is the only Best Pic nominee I saw. How the heck did that happen?

Fist, I think you'd like Capote, you should try to watch that sometime.
