I didn't know it won an Oscar. Or at least I forgot. Heh. Anyway, the beauty of the film is that it showed several characters, nearly all of them having done something terrible and/or stereotypical of their race (the locksmith being the only one who was a noble character at all times), and, at the same time, gives you reason to feel something positive for them. Does it forgive their crime? No more than Covenant's crime can be forgiven.
