I'd have to say that my picks are either the Rankin/Bass The Hobbit, or Stranger than Fiction.

I plug both of them every chance I get, and have watched each countless times

Looking back at Cail's criteria, it's still 2001 for me. It's the movie I'm most obsessed about. Way back, I watched it whenever it aired. Then, when we got a Beta VCR, I taped it. (Still have the tape, too - but no machine to play it now Damn you, VHS.) When we got VHS (grrr) I officially bought my first retail copy of 2001 - the picture quality was poor, with a faded yellow tinge to everything and dust and grit visible. In'92, I bought the 25th Anniversary edition on VHS, and the picture was much better, though that ugly yellow hue still occasionally reared its head. A few years later, I bought the movie again when it came out as part of the "Kubrick Collection" supervised by the man himself, and the picture was as good as VHS got. When DVD arrived, I immediately bought 2001 again; and again in 2001 as part of the "restored and remastered" series of Kubrick films. (We are so spoiled by THX remastering today, and I wouldn't have it any other way.) I was very sad that Kubrick died before he could celebrate the year 2001. Anyway, the remastered picture was a marvel to behold - it was as good as DVD got, and I thought I had my "definitive" version of 2001. Until blu-ray came along. 2001 was the very first film I grabbed for blu-ray, and it made me fall in love with the movie all over again. The picture's pristine clarity is...well, you just have to see it for yourself. For a forty-year old movie, 2001 looks astoundingly good. It shames the picture quality of more modern films I've seen.

(But the movie I've seen absolutely the most number of times? I can't say for sure, but it might be The Matrix, The Empire Strikes Back, Jurassic Park, T2, Unforgiven or Raiders of the Lost Ark. On the other hand, I haven't had the history with them on recorded media as I have with 2001.)

It's so hard to pick just one... I have about 7 movies that I always watch when I see they're on cable, no matter how many times I've seen them.

But if you're going to put a gun to my head, I'd have to say Godfather 1/2 ... A&E shows them back to back a few times each year and I always end up watching the whole thing.

Animal house! (ok, ok, I picked two)

Aliens. Maybe we got em demoralized.

American Beauty. Love that movie. Seen it probably more than any other movie, and still can watch it whenever.

Excellent choice! To me, Wayne and Ford's best work. Amazing that they were both snubbed. I remember reading a review that called it "an homage to racism." Talk about clueless...

I'm not sure I'd watch any movie in a bar . . .
