Dlbpharmd has a great new one,
Dlb wrote:Alterum Alterius Auxilio Eget
And for those whose Latin isn't up to scratch, it translates roughly as: "Each needs the help of the other."
Words the world would do well to bear in mind.

This one of Cail's has been cracking me up for days:
"We're going to go to the zoo and watch the monkeys do it."
"Why not go watch the penguins?"
"No no, they ain't natural, they're chemically man made, like the Incredible Hulk or something."
"No way."
"Yeah, check your Bible, they wasn't on the ark."
"Well ok, if it's in the Bible."
It reminds me of somebody I knew who firmly believed that "Parktown Prawns" (A colloquial name for
very big, ugly and tough King Crickets) were actually a product of the deliberate genetic combining of Cockroaches and Prawns.

A tip of the hat to The State, the funniest comedy troupe since Python.

I see that Danlo has one of my favourite quotes for his signature. It's one that I've quoted frequently here, but have never been able to remember who said it.
If the brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn't.
Lyall Watson
Thanks Danlo. (And if you notice this, which book is it from? My favourite has always been
SuperNature, which I recommend to everyone.)

Av, I don't know the original quote source--all I know is that David Zindell used this quote at the beginning of a chapter in Neverness.

(Actually I had it as my sig for about 2 months about 2 years ago, but I saw your reference to it and that inspired me to stick it back up)

Here's a quote for Lord Mhoram. It's from the great
Illusions, by Richard Bach:
"Donald, that's beautiful! I didn't know you could play the guitar!"
"You didn't? Then you think somebody could have walked up to Jesus the Christ and handed him a guitar and he would have said, 'I can't play that thing'? Would he have said that?"
Shimoda put the guitar back in its place and walked out into the sunlight with me. "Or if somebody came by who spoke Russian or Persian, do you think any master worth his aura would not know what he was saying? Or if he wanted to skin a D-10 Cat or fly an airplane, that he couldn't do it?"
"So you really know all things, don't you?"
"You do too, of course. I just know that I know all things."

Very cool, Fist. What is this
Illusions?

Nothing much. Only one of the coolest books ever written. Bach also wrote Jonathan Livingston Seagull, among others. That's good too, but Illusions is, imo, much better. Both are very short. Illusions is less than 200 pages. Easy, quick reading, filled with wisdom.

Do yourself a favour LM. It's one of my all time favourite books, alongside
The Prophet and
Zen Without Zen Masters.
Danlo, have you ever read any of Lyall Watson's books? Very interesting stuff. Especially
SuperNature
Anyway, I love SgtNulls new one:
"when the controversial becomes
orthodox, nothing seems as
preposterous as the mundane"
