I find a quote by Red Green to be very apt..."Remember I'm pulling for you. We're all in this together."
Couple that with Geni's "We are all on the Hindenburg so there is no sense fighting over the window seat."
I'd also add Murphy's Law in there too.

Above all be happy, it could always be worse (just think about all those in the past who didn't have the internet!)
"We do not follow maps to buried treasure, and remember:X never, ever, marks the spot."
- Professor Henry Jones Jr.

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."

I'm used to being wrong, but I can't stand disappointment. Also, it's very tiring to always be an optimist. I don't know how you people do it! :) That is the kind of emotional energy I just don't have.
It's easier if you don't expect a particular type of happiness, just trust happiness of some kind to come along. The more specific your hopes, the more likely reality won't match them, but give it some leeway and notice that things that make you happy, find you.
YES! Well said, Joy! :D And here's how it's said in Conversations With God:
GOD: Passion is the love of turning being into action. It fuels the engine of creation. It changes concepts to experience.

Passion is the fire that drives us to express who we really are. Never deny passion, for that is to deny Who You Are and Who You Truly Want to Be.

The renunciate never denies passion - the renunciate simply denies attachment to results. Passion is a love of doing. Doing is being, experienced. Yet what is often created as part of doing? Expectation.

To live your life without expectation - without the need for specific results - that is freedom. That is Godliness. That is how I live.

NEALE: You are not attached to results?

GOD: Absolutely not. My joy is in the creating, not in the aftermath. Renunciation is not a decision to deny action. Renunciation is a decision to deny a need for a particular result. There is a vast difference.

Edge,

Yes, that was great. :D Awesome quotes - from the Buddha, the Bhagavad Vita, and even Stephen Donaldson. Very nice.

Thank you. :)

Yeah, LM, those brilliant quotes are from Fisty's page, and they're what inspired me in the first place.

Right mind leads to right thought leads to right action leads to right result. Right thought leads to right mind and right action. Right action leads to right thought and right result. Etc.

Thanks, Edge. I forgot how much I enjoyed the "Conversations With God" books. (BTW, anyone who hasn't read these: They had the ring of truth to me, for no smaller reason than the God the author talks to has the same sense of humor as the one I remember talking to as a child.)

Yeah. :D Here's one of my favorite humorous moment:
NEALE: Whew! You inspire me!

GOD: Well, if God can’t inspire you, who in hell can?

NEALE: Are You always this flip?

GOD: I meant that not as a flippancy. Read it again.

NEALE: Oh. I see.

GOD: Yes. However, it would be okay if I were being flip, wouldn’t it?

NEALE: I don’t know. I’m used to my God being a little more serious.

GOD: Well, do Me a favor, and don’t try to contain Me. By the way, do yourself the same favor.

Philosophies??

Post by lurch »

...WTF?...philosophies??..well when you all get up to the age for the need of maximum Grecian Formula,,,one has the ability to look back on things...
Philosophies? Here goes..Eat green leafy vegetables at least once a day..and related..have a bowel movement at least once a day..and while we're at it..a glass of wine or some spirits once a day is a good idea too!..and ,,oh yea,,brush after every meal..Just DO IT!,,you'll thank me later.
...What else.oh yea..Upon becoming nothing,,one realizes that becoming anything, means becoming everything...
...and aaa..children are born ugly, we really need to improve apon that..Most of us do as we age,,but some of you..jeeeezuz!
..lets see, what else...there is no final answer,,life is a constant exploration. so there Alex Trebek,,
..and the really important one...If you're at work and its after 11 a.m. on a friday..do not answer the phone or open any e-mail...if ya know whats good for ya....otherwise,,Frank Sinatra had it right..."God Father! I'll do anything , if you make this happen for my career,,anything!.............MEL
