Fist,

Okay okay, jeez.  I've been listening to danlo recommend these books for over 2 years!

Drommond,

As Fist said, there are " warts and scars" of every history known to man, not least of all American and Christian/Catholic history.

Furls,
They don't enhance it and they don't sway it. And they certainly don't make me feel shame for my faith.
Well said, Furls. :)

What, you think I won't drive to Boston and stand over you with a Derek Jeter bat until you read them? Is that what you think?!?

I don't think that I'm fighting a horde of pagans bent on the hate of God. I think I'm voicing a stand for my beliefs and that I got caught up in the whirlwind of my own passion. I know who I am. I just want to be respected for it. Is that okay?
AACK- pleeeeaasseee refrain from using the term Pagan in that context.......now I am getting offended. ;) Far from hating God, Pagans simply believe that all Gods are one God, and most just worship a female aspect of that one ultimate deity. Statements like that are what tend to annoy me about some Christians...... Some bring intolerance of their religion on themselves by being ignorant and intolerant of the beliefs of others. I have to say that we don't have much of that around here, though. Heck, some of the nicest people here that I like and respect a lot are Christian. Of course, the Atheists are all great people, too. Just goes to show you that it doesn't really matter what you do or do not believe as long as you are a good person and respectful of others. That's what makes the Watch such a great place!

Furls Fire wrote:First and foremost...I love God and Jesus, not religion. I call myself Christian because I believe in Jesus Christ and all His teachings. I was raised Catholic, but as I grew I realized that I did not agree with most of the Church's teachings, altho I still find some of it beautiful. My faith doesn't come from religion, it comes from my heart and soul and my love for the Father and His Son.

Second.. The Crusades, the Inquistions, the KKK, etc are all examples of people using God as a front to promote their lust for power and their evil. And I'm sure when they came before Him at the moment of their passings, they were made to give answer for their evils. They have nothing to do with me or my belief. They don't enhance it and they don't sway it. And they certainly don't make me feel shame for my faith.
I love you, Furls. Will you adopt me? Please? ;)

Hey you two, don't even joke about that! You know Furls has a problem saying "No" when it comes to adoption.

Furl's, that's the one single thing that could make me hope that I'm wrong.

*informs Russ that we need an addition added to the addition*

Av, I believe with all my heart and soul that they were made to answer. In what form, I don't know...but the God I believe in would not condone such atrocities.

:D Aah, you're great Furls.

Like I've said before, the only problem with my own world view is that it contains no Justice.

Oh, I like to believe that there is some, I like to think that those who do terrible things get some sort of Karmic payback, I like to think a lot of things. ;)

But the cold, rational, reasoning part of me laughs at that thought. I find it far less logical than the thought that we just die, and that's that, (as far as our individuality, our consciousness, goes.)

It doesn't stop me from trying to live a "good" life, but it makes it difficult sometimes. ;) I have to trust that it's enough, in and of itself, for no other reason than the fact that it's "right".

Justice is a beautiful idea, it's one that I would give anything to have exist for sure, but you know...I just can't have faith in it. :)

( And let's not forget the fact that what I consider "Just" might be different from what whoever does get to decide considers it. ;) )
