Mostly I use my ipod in the car - played over the radio.

Recently I took off my play list Janis Ian's At Seventeen, not because I don't like it, but because I was afraid that it would play while I had passengers in the car.

I still listen to (and love) '80s hair metal. I'm not ashamed.

There is the small matter of the Huey Lewis CD still in my collection, not to mention 2 Outfield CDs.

I've been tempted by Shatner's latest effort, though as it's been arranged by Ben Folds it isn't really the risky endeavour it might otherwise have been.

Some people might think I should be ashamed to own as much Duran Duran as I do, though I'll fight themn til the ends of the Earth about it.

Nav, it's kind of a shame that you're not getting Has Been. Have you listened to it? Anyway, the selling point for me was the fact that it had Adrian Belew on it. Who cares if it's risky or not? It has Adrian freaking Belew! Plus, Shatner said the album communicated at least 98% of what he wanted to convey.

Thanks for the article, dlb. It would be nice to meet them and shake their hands, but I'm not sorry that ABBA isn't getting back together. They had their time, and it was great. I'm content that the members of ABBA are alive and well. They have borne the excesses and pressures of superstardom, as well as criticism of their music, with grace and humour. They didn't commit suicide, they didn't become drug-addicted zombies, nor did they turn into celebrity hucksters doing late night informercials. ("Hi, I'm Roger Daltrey and I've got an amazing offer from Time-Life Records to tell you about!")

ABBA was, and is, a class act in my book.

I was expressing my distaste for hucksterism...and perky salespeople. I dread the day I see Sting in an infomercial: "Hello, chaps, I'm Sting and I'm here to tell you about a terrific TV-exclusive offer from Time-Life..."

Of course, I'm saying all this under the assumption that the members of ABBA haven't done infomercials themselves in Sweden or elsewhere. If they have, then I'm willing and ready to admit they have stooped as low as Daltrey has.

If he doesn't do it now, they'll use him like they did Fred Astaire in that Dirt Devil commercial!

( I played I Heard a Rumor by Bananarama all the time for 2 months straight in '87, I was in love with everybody in the band too... )

I don't know if I've mentioned it before... The Bangles. I like the vocal harmonies.

Bangles were great, even the superfluous blonde who just shook the tambourine.

I once owned a tape by all those bands, and though I don't anymore, if I ever hear their stuff on the radio, I find myself not changing the station. I blame it on nostalgia, and I blame the nostalgia on my cousin/big sis Jenifer.

i wouldn't go as far to say that i like them but i always find myself singing to S club 7 songs. a mates got them on his i-pod and he puts it on the radio(using his i-trip) and plays it constantly. its the heroin of the music industry-highly addictive stuff but seriously bad for your health.who else finds themselves singing/liking stuff they shouldn't??

Not gonna lie. I have some Backstreet Boys songs on my external hard drive and I definitley know the words to a few. Wouldn't say I necessarily like them, but friends and have had fun singing the songs from time to time.
