I'm hoping for SRD to appear somewhere in the Iowa/Illinois area if anyone hears of Chicago, Des Moines, IA City, Quad-Cities ( a bi-state community of Ia & Il)appearances PLEASE holler here or send me a PM. BTW the Quad-Cities is a great place to visit where we are experiencing a marvelous rebirth in the arts

As mentioned on the SRD official website: SRD is off to the International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts (March 15th to 19th). Under comments he writes "I'll be there for the whole conference. I'll do a reading, sign some books, and be generally "available" on a casual basis. For more information, go the web site of the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts."

Somebody please go... I want to go! NOT FAIR! <sob>

Bubonicon '06 damm I'm glad I checked. The Con has been moved up to July 31st so as not to interfere with WorldCon in LA. 3 of New Mexico's best: Stephen R. Donaldson, Walter Jon Williams and (this just in) George R. R. Martin.

Here's the link Bubonicon

I'm, finally, going to go all out this year: spend all three days there, watch campy films, anime and maybe even role play? (Nah) What should I dress as? Nom? :P (I plan on being extra nice to Mr. Martin-hey why to I have to get Feast at the bookstore? I can just...) Ben Bova is the Guest of Honor (as SRD was last year)-I attended his read last year (seems to have semi-settled near Taos) he's quite an interesting guy-impressive body of SciFi-does alot of work with NASA, pilot.

Check out the weapons policy for LA con:
It is the policy of L.A.con IV that no real or realistic projectile weapons may be carried anywhere within the convention except during the masquerade or specially approved events.

The use of a weapon during the Masquerade or during a programming event must be approved by the Masquerade Director or the Programming Coordinator respectively. No weapon of any kind may be drawn or wielded in any area of the hotel or convention space.

L.A.con IV defines a weapon as any object designed to cause damage, or any replica of such an object, or any object that the Committee determines to pose a risk to the safety of others or to personal or hotel property. The Committee reserves the right to alter or amend this definition and the right to impound weapons for the duration of L.A.con IV. Failure to put a weapon away in your hotel room or car (or check it with Ops until you leave the convention for the day, if not staying at the hotel) is grounds for immediate revocation of membership without refund and expulsion from the convention.

Dealers who sell weapons must securely wrap each item at the point of sale and provide each customer with a printed copy of these rules.

We at L.A.con IV know that most people who would like to carry weapons are sensible and careful individuals. However, we must keep in mind liability, legal issues and our relationship with the hotel. The safety of you, the members, must outweigh any other consideration and it is with this in mind that these policies have been formed.
Yeah that's right, the grown man dressed as Gandalf accompanied by his good friend Joey the Sith Lord are most assuredly sensible and careful individuals.

From SRD official website:
Book Tours for "Fatal Revenant"

I've now--reluctantly--agreed to do short book tours for "Fatal Revenant" in both the US and the UK. Concrete information will be posted under "appearances" when it becomes available.

Poor Jenn... but don't you know there's still people in the world who have met SRD less than twelve times? Think of them ...

At least he's on your side of the country. The farthest east he's going looks like Denver.

Jemez Springs ... having been there, that's kind of cool. Jemez Springs is the original "wide spot in the road". This must be some sort of cool program for local school kids or something. Or maybe he likes eating at Debbie's. :)
