Dromond, I was just joking.
The whole thread seemed pretty good natured and everyone was posting humorus and light hearted tales and after reading your cat story I was reminded of one of my own.
I only referenced you because I wanted to further my slip into insanity by sarcastically saying my story was just like yours when in fact it was the polar opposite.

I did say in my spoiler that I made most of it up to shock people and get them to say "WTF?" and laugh at the same time.
And sometimes when I get going I get pretty silly by the end of my posts.

You seem to have taken it as a reflection of your own post and that was not the case.
I've had cats and dogs my whole life and I would never make light of someone's loss.
Sorry.

Wow, I had no idea so many people cut themselves on purpose. Reminds me of Morn.

This is not really something I did, but it was something I was ashamed of for many years. I grew up in the middle of the woods in a log cabin that my father, brothers and I built ourselves. We didn't have electricity or running water. We had a spring and an outhouse. We literally lived like pioneers.

But none of my friends at school knew this. The school bus picked us up at the end of our mile-long drive, and I was always too ashamed to invite anyone over.

Now that I'm an adult, I realize that I didn't choose to live that way, my parents did it to me. So it wasn't my fault and I have no problem telling people about it now. Actually it's kind of a badge of honor, living in this technological world, to say that I've experienced a primitive way of life. One day, I'd like to return to the woods and build myself a home for my family. But we will have running water, Internet, satellite TV, the whole works, of course. I'd never put my kids through that kind of ordeal.

What are we talking about here, HLT? Singing in the Rain or other manly things from Gene Kelly, or are we talking Rent and Hedwig and such?

A little bit of everything I think.
Haven't seen the two you mentioned though.
Gene Kelly is pretty cool.
Could have been a huge star but his timing and choices were horrible.

I'm also starting to get into theater too.
Even audio is interesting.
NPR will sometimes have these audio skits i find very enjoyable.
Like old time radio programs (which I also used to like quite a bit)

I confess, HLT is uninformed about The Gene Kelly.

HLT: you're only one step away from listening to broadway show tunes in your car! Seek help before it's too late! (When the driver one lane over hears you singing along with Judy Garland at a stop light -- it's too late.) :)

In my sophomore year of college, for health class, I jogged with Beethoven's 3rd symphony playing in my little ear phones. As we were stretching one guy started laughing and was like, "Oh man...is that opera?" So, yeah. Stop before it's too late. STOP.

No, I mean hella-huge. :D

His trip to Europe took him out of the spotlight and with the demise of musicals he faded.

It's too late.
But I do add fart noises at the appropriate times to disgust (daughter) and delight (son) my kids.

Oh, perhaps. But for a flop, he did pretty well for himself. ;)

I have a peculiar talent for holding grudges. They never get too heavy, and every now and then I feed them to keep them fat, and healthy.

After hearing about it for weeks and thinking I was somehow unaware of a minor holiday, I just looked up Reading Day.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
