Heh. I learned my lesson the hard way. In my early twenties. I had a bum lightswitch in my apartment that would pop (blue flash in the box) every time I used the switch. Rather than kill the breaker, I decided to just change it--after all, working slowly and never touching more than one pole at a time is safe--well, in theory anyway. I accidentally let the screwdriver contact the hot lead while I was unscrewing the neutral, and, well, let's just say that getting thrown 2 feet backwards and having tingly arms for a day was getting off easy compared to what could have happened.

The lesson here? Never let your screwdiver contact the hot lead while unscrewing the neutral if you're working with a live circuit!
