"R" rating versus "PG13"

there will always be exceptions to rules - and as you suggest the decision is based on the individual rather than the age .. if the movie is rated PG .. in Australia that means that the movie is recommended to be viewed with parental guidance and that the viewer is not less than 13 years.

so if in general terms the chrons is not akin to a recommended text in year 7 of school .. likely it would not be rated PG 13 .. if it is a book that would be brilliant in high school 15yrs and older then likely an M rating would be appropriate.

If it is a text that is only generally suitable for a 15yr or older then maybe it should be MA.

At least here that could be how it would work ..
