Someone should suggest this to SRD. He has ruled out prequel novels or further sequels to the Chronicles after The Last Dark, but I don't think he has ever definitively ruled out future short stories set in The Land. The Somberlain wrote: Perhaps a short story collection, á la Reave The Just/Daughter Of Regals would be cool. Except it would be purely TC. Eight or so short stories set in the Land's history, pre-Desecration. That way it wouldn't have to result in a decade-long trilogy for us, and we could get all sorts of things in, rather than just the Old Lords.

It could center on Berek's Translation to the Land and his journey to becoming The Lord Fathererninjaboy wrote:I think, if there is a prequel, it cannot be about Covenant - he's been done to death.
Never fear, the Moderator's here! Since these seem to go together, and since LZ seemed to intend to continue any existing discussion, I have merged topics!Lord Zombiac wrote:Man, I used the search function and everything!
What about SRD chooses his eight favourite fan-fic pieces, compiles them into one volume with a Foreward written by him and he gets to keep the proceeds of the sales. The fan fic writers get to be immortalised as part of TCTC?Perhaps a short story collection, á la Reave The Just/Daughter Of Regals would be cool. Except it would be purely TC. LOL Rob
What, because of his name?ninjaboy wrote: TBH I always thought that of all the Characters in the Land's history, it would be HL Kevin who was translated from the real world..
Yes. Because of his name. It does seem out of place with names like Loric, Triock, Variol, Thuler, Pietten, Berek, Mhorham..Horrim Carabal wrote:What, because of his name?ninjaboy wrote: TBH I always thought that of all the Characters in the Land's history, it would be HL Kevin who was translated from the real world..
Kevin sounds like he comes from the "real world" and Hile sounds like he came from the Land.
That's interesting but there is no evidence whatsoever that Kevin isn't from the Land. The name thing is pretty weak sauce.ninjaboy wrote: And anyway it seems like a plausible story with Kevin.. He's come to the Land - possibly summoned by the despiser - andfalls in love with the place, and is quite adept at using earthpower, but Fangthane betrays him and causes him to despair and sacrifice the beauty of the world he had come to love..
probably best to write a prequil thenCovenantJr wrote:Indeed, and SRD seems to like the unexpected.drew wrote:I think that's the reason why he won't do them...we already know most of the stories.
Ah, but, for Berek we have a hint that he came from Covenenat's world, the Night Club singer that called Covennant Berekninjaboy wrote:Yes. Because of his name. Hoever there have been a couple of people with real-world sounding names, Lena and Llaura.

I guess this must already have been discussed elsewhere, but I have never made this connection between Berek and the 'real' world beforeAh, but, for Berek we have a hint that he came from Covenenat's world, the Night Club singer that called Covennant Berek
Probably been discussed, but, if so, it was probably some years ago it was discussed.TheSeventhWard wrote:I guess this must already have been discussed elsewhere, but I have never made this connection between Berek and the 'real' world beforeAh, but, for Berek we have a hint that he came from Covenenat's world, the Night Club singer that called Covennant Berek
