After seeing this thread pop up several times, I decided to download the series. Several episodes in (and the two from last night), I have to say it's pretty good.

House himself reminds me of Sherlock Holmes, but more in the style of his older, misanthropic brother Mycroft.

I love the way you say 'misanthropic'.

Heh. Well, I think Doyle used that word specifically when he introduced Mycroft, taking Watson (I think) to the Diogenes Club (or something like that), a 'group of misanthropes.' Apparently, Sherlock's brother was even smarter than he was, and he needed to ask him something. *shrug* It was over ten years ago, but that's one of the few elements from the stories that sticks out in my mind.

Do you think that House and Cutty will get together?
Probebly not..although he has OFFICIALLY now screwed up any chance of winning his ex back back--and I'd say he blew off Cameron enough, that she's not interested anymore.

I think eventually, he will fall for a patient.

I've really enjoyed the House commercials so far this year. I can't wait to see who shoots him next, who he almost kills in order to cure next, and how his court case goes!

My boyfriend and I just started watching the first season over the holidays and so far we love it. We are a little behind the times in TV, we also just started to watch the first season of LOST.

Anyone know when House will be back on (in the US)? I heard 1/9, then I heard not.

It's already back on. I've been watching the commercial over and over again for at least a week now.

I was wrong, it won't be back on for another 2 weeks, according to last night's commercial. I know it would be breaking my hypocritic oath, but I'm thinking about actually watching the next episode.

It'll take two extra weeks just to get over the lameness of the last episode. I mean, the thing with the cop --- THAT'S IT?!?! Yeesh.

Yeah, I agree with you Way. I thought House was getting stale in Season 2, but the last few episodes over the last couple of months have been pretty good. I've really gotten into them and it has sparked my interest back into the show...

...except for that lame last episode. That was just terrible.

And you're right. After that whole buildup with the cop...that was it?

Total letdown.

Well, I watched last night's episode....unfortunataly, I didn't get to hear it, because my dad called me 3 minutes before it started, so I really still am clueless. Heh, this is now becoming a mission for me; I MUST actually watch/hear an episode before I die! Oh, and about that blonde; when you still look cute with a tube in your nose, you know you're freaking cute!

I thought that episode was very boring. They couldn't have done better after a two-week break?

Don't like those character-moment episodes, Syl? I thought it was interesting, and my wife actually watched it with me because it didn't gross her out (although the cockroach bit almost did). :) The girl was cute but inexplicable. The whole point was to explore House, though.

The key word there is 'moment.' One moment took a whole episode. The rest of the episode was disposable.

Yeah, I liked the first half, when it was just random stuff going on, but about halfway through, when they started going more into the raped girl, I lost interest and tuned it out. And I don't know what was going on with the whole thing with that annoying female doctor and the old guy.

But I have to tip my hat to them that it was at least an original idea for an episode (at least House-wise), and not their standard plot. You have to mix it up a little.

Of course, it doesn't mean much if I didn't care enough to watch the second half of the show, heh.-jay

Was the dying old guy the guy from Every Which Way But Loose? I'm almost sure.

Yes, it was Geoffrey Lewis, who played in several Clint Eastwood movies. I finally got to see an episode last night, sound and all, and I must say it's quite a lot like the commercials, only longer. Oh, and there's no way that kid got discharged within a week. The spleen alone would have kept him in longer than that.

Oh, I see; I start watching HOUSE religiously (sometimes it's been on 3 times a week lately), and now nobody wants to talk about him any more? Isn't anybody concerned that Foreman is quitting? What about House's vycatin addiction? What about House and Wilson drugging each other's coffee? dAN, are you even watching the commercials anymore? Doesn't anybody care??!?

I'm still watching House. It's gotten a bit better after that little drought in the middle where it was getting pretty repetitive.

The one last week with the coffee drugging was pretty good. Coffee drugging is funny.

House and Monk are still the only two TV series I watch, although I haven't seen an episode of Monk in a while (keep forgetting when it comes on).-jay
