Who has started the main quest? I'm level 15 and yet to reach Kvatch.

I'm a little past Kvatch but not far. Level 16 now. Love how there's never any pressure to do it; very open-ended.

Yeah, it's great. Anyone completed the ghost pirate quest? Rather fun.

Ordered Oblivion today, now that I'm sure my new processor can remain stable under heavy load (my side panel fan was set as an exhaust instead of an intake  ). It probably isn't a very good idea given my current workload, but hey ho.

I'm becoming more and more tempted by this, but im just not sure my pc would run it.

Got Oblivion last week and spent a long time setting up my character while I was drunk. I'm a fairly ugly Breton Spellsword and I've just met Jauffre at the monastery. I don't really know what I'm doing yet, not even sure if I've levelled up.

The graphics automatically set themselves to 'medium', which felt like kind of a compliment considering the game's system reqs. It does look very nice, odd that the resolution is so low though. It's currently giving me problems, as if I have to switch to the desktop mid-game I often have to restart as the game no longer responds to the keyboard or mouse (doesn't freeze though). It could become a real headache, as it happens whenever my firewall alerts me about anything.

The modelling is incredible though. I shot a rat with my bow and then watched it slowly tumble over and over, one limb at a time, as it rolled down the hill. Getting the arrow back was quite tricky.

Well, I finished the main quest and all the main side guild quests... I'm now Master of the Fighters Guild, Arch-mage of the Mages Guild, Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, Gray Fox of the Thieves Guild, Champion of Cyrodiil, Knight-Brother of the Blades, Brother of the Order of Virtuous Blood (a hidden mini-faction) and Knight-Errant of the Knights of the White Stallion (another hidden mini-faction).

I wonder if there are other mini-factions around... in any case, now I have to complete about 12 side quests for which I got entries in my diary, and I'm on the lookout for more ;)

Yes, I had lots of free time recently :P

Well, I think I'm going to give magery a shot. I'm very experienced with hack-and-slash warriors but haven't gone down the magic lane. Recommended skills, stat allocation? Thankies!

Make sure you have a high Wisdom, as well as Intelligence. Specialise in summoning so that you can get creatures to fight for you, and spend points in alchemy so you can have magicka potions - look at making the type that restore magicka over a period of time.

What specs would you need to have to be able to run this game smoothly?

I think i have it all apart from the RAM.
If we were to somehow merge are c's together then we could play.

I stopped playing Oblivion six days ago and uninstalled it. Doubt I will play it again now.

No, the game has. The lack of dialogue options really really damaged it for me, and the fact that you are pretty much guided in the quests. Maybe Fallout and Arcanum spoiled it for me.

Well, not every game can be a Baldur's Gate 2 (which you should try, if you're into dialogue options). Oh, and Planescape: Torment is the dialogue game; can beat it entirely through conversation alone; just make sure you give your character a high wisdom and intelligence.
