*sigh* I'm going to have to see it sooner or later. I suppose this means another trip to the cinema alone.

Lucky you. I miss the days of going to the theatre by myself. *sigh*

I liked the film on the whole, it's one of those where you need to force yourself not to dissect it in any way and just go with the flow. There were a few things that bugged me though:

Magneto moving the Golden Gate Bridge: One, it seemed a bit excessive (he could've just flown them over in a big boat, there weren't that many of them) and two, didn't the strain of using his mutant-making machine in the first film nearly kill him? It did look great though.

Rogue getting cured. I was always hoping she'd become kick-ass indestructible Rogue at some point. Plus she would have had a ready made boyfriend in Leech. :P

Jean Grey. Am I right in thinking that there was some doubt that Famke Janssen would be onboard for this film? It felt like they started writing the script with her in, stopped writing for her in the second half of the film, then shoe-horned her back in at the end.

I also didn't stay for the credits, will have to try and find out what I missed.

I'm thinking by what we saw of Magneto at the very end, that there is still a possibility of a kick-*** indestructable Rogue at some point...

Not to mention the return of Lorelei! Wait, is this post-stalking? Crap, the mod's gonna get me for sure! Wait...I'm the mod. All-righty then! Anyway, I'm not sure, but I would assume that unless all three actors want out, one or more may show up in a spin-off movie, with their powers back. The post-credit scene wasn't all that big a deal; you'll see it soon enough on the dvd.

Yeah...I've been working unsually hard this week...I'm ready for the weekend already.

FYI: If you were paying close attention to the film the scene at the end of the credits was not a suprise....I guessed it before it happened. :)

Very true.

I seem to remember Syl even posted about it, and he didn't even see the scene. Unless I misread posts 11 and 15 of this thread...

When Mystique comes back it will be interesting to see whose side she's on after the way Magneto treated her while she was 'human.'

I've thought of that as well....of course there's the whole issue of Magneto anyway....how does being non-mutant (for as long as is lasts) affect his thinking.....

OK, i finally saw this movie. I'm a little embarrassed and upset that I didn't see this in the theatres. Don't know why... I love the X-men.
Anyway, the good and bad.
Let's start with the bad:
<SPOILER WARNINGS!!!!>
- I think I saw someone comment about this already: Magneto moving the Golden Gate bridge to get all the baddies to Alkatraz ... yah, that was a little overdone, but a nice touch in an FX knda way).
- no Nightcrawler. OK, I know it's frik'n impossible to get all these big name actors back to do sequels (and I have been really impressed that they have all the principles for 3 movies), but, c'mon, Alan Cumming was in total make-up. I'm sure you could have got a good no-name actor to play him ...
(I thought I may have more 'bad', but that's it... :) )

the good:

- FX. Wow. Some really good and effectinve uses of FX. Especially the Pheonix powers, and they way they made her look ... very very creepy. Storm's powers finally getting a good look. She is such a kick-@ss hero, that she finally got to show off. Heck, all the character FX was really well done.
- Pheonix. I know some people perhaps thought she didn't get enough screen time, and I thought so too at first. HOwever, mulling everything over, I appreciate what was done with her. The screen time was perfect and the acting of her character was really impressive. The use of her eyes to express the inner termoil was very effective. And the death of Scott! Holy sh--! I didn't see that coming. I don't beleive that ever happened in the comics (as far ass I can remember), but it was very well done in the movie. Even the FX to make Xavier and Magneto look young at the beginning was pretty slick.
- Sentenels!!!! Oh, man, they fooled me on that one... good job with the scaryness of it ... my heart skiped a beat when I thought they were actually going ahead a bit in time (but wondered why no one looked older..)
- the death of Xavier! Holy sh--!!! (again) That was frightening and amazing to watch. Extemely well done there. You can only have great actors doing the roles of Xavier and Magneo and make that scene work. When Xavier turns to Logan and smiles just before (!) --- I got shivers ... wow. (but I guess we all know about the ending ... heheh, very clever they way they referenced it at the beginning when Xavier is teaching his students about ethics... well done...
- yah, we all miss Bryan Singer, but I'll give Ratner credit ... he handles things well.
- doors left open. Oh yah! But there is no way I can see there being a 4th X-men movie, unless they do one with just a few characters, like the Wolverine movie that is being shot...

Overall I give it an enthusiastic 8 out of 10.
:D

Never did see this. Time for a rental, I think.
