At the risk of angering my fellow Englishmen, I think the Czech Republic look pretty tasty.

Oh, and I don't think England were that bad against Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago were under the cosh for 90 minutes, but had a smart defensive strategy (using their strikers to force play into the middle of the pitch and getting plenty of men behind the ball)

My only criticism of the England strategy for the Trinidad and Tobago game was that Lennon was not brought on sooner, as his wide play was what made the difference in that match. At least if anyone pulls that trick again, I'll have the pleasure of watching the combination of Lennon as winger and Beckham as a wing back.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed seeing that.

Well, Ghana have blown that group wide open with a 2- 0 win over the Czech Republic.

Italy 1 - 1 USA.
What a spectacle of a game, 3 red cards, goals disallowed, the USA were a bit naive, and Italy were a bit conservative when they were a man up.

The USA-Italy match was very gripping indeed. Great stuff.

Had to feel sorry for Australia tonight, I fear it was my anti-football team curse at work again. Just before the game started I was singing their praises.

I reckon I could turn this to good use... hey, I think Germany and Ecuador are great.

Brazil 2 - 0 Australia

:(

Ah well, Japan and Croatia drew. That means that if we beat or draw with Croatia, and Japan lose to Brazil, we are through.

hmmm France drew 1 - 1 with South Korea. I can see France not going through. Great team on paper though.

Looks like Owen Hargreaves is going to start in place of Gerrard against Sweden. I'm quite happy to see this, it will allow Lampard to spend more time forward (although he hasn't looked very confident in front of goal so far) and it'll give Hargreaves a chance to silence his doubters. He should be pretty fired up for it.

Here's a top tip for you all - next Korea world cup game (Thursday evening vs Switzerland) find yourself a pub with some Koreans in it - those guys enjoy their football! (Chant 'day han-min-goo' clapclap clapclap clap and they'll love you!) (that's korean for korea by the way)

The US is in deep doo doo. I don't think we can beat Ghana.

On the plus side, it was good to see the Japanese beat the Hell out of Prso.

I think you're in with a shout Cail. The US team's not that bad, and Ghana are pretty beatable on their day. This year alone, they've been beaten by Tunisia, Nigeria, Togo and even Zimbabwe.

If Italy can beat the Czech Republic and the US can do a Zimbabwe, you'll be through to the next round where you'd probably end up playing Brazil... time to break out the valium.

Anyway, who or what is Prso?

Of course! Thank you, lol. For some reason I thought it was an acronym.

Ghana's beatable, but the way the US played the other day....

I'm not hopeful.

And I don't want to think about playing Brazil.

Something about Sweden.....

England 2 - 2 Sweden

Great goal by J oe Cole and Gerrard. Defence errors gave them the other two goals. Owen hurt himself and looks bad. England go through to play Ecuador and not Germany. Can England win the World Cup? Hahaha... Don't be stupid... looks grim.

Prso rules BTW.

Another lack-lustre performance from England, the Goals were decent and despite all his criticsms, i thought Hardgreaves played pretty well.

That second goal from Sweden was unbelievable. Considering how well England's back four have played recently it makes it even worse to have to witness such a sorry, lame (expletives continue for some time) piece of defending that you'd be hard pushed to excuse at Sunday League level.

Admittedly the first goal was due to poor marking from the corner and an outstanding header. But the second one... ugh. Beaten by a long throw-in. Help!

W00t! Argentina drew with Holland. It is all coming together now.

I think England are in with a chance. They completely dominated the Sweden game. Other top teams have been looking very poor (France, Italy, Brazil), and we don't have to play Germany in the next round.

The Argentina - Holland game wasnt as goo as i expected, ending 0-0. However its was still a decent game to watch.

What a group! Group E is the best. Half Time:
Italy 1 - 0 Czech
Ghana 2 - 1 USA
Any team can go through, as it stands:
Italy go through, Ghana go in second.
