The funeral was really, really lovely and our family had a great time together after. |G

Got back to my sister's and there was my suitcase, intact!

Thanks, Sarge, Houston is not on the agenda for this visit. :? Hoping to get to NYC. You'll have to hug the animals for me.

Linna, San Francisco Art Institute is right around the corner from my store so we get all the art students needing to print their homework.

I had a pretty good day. A lot quieter than expected to it was nice. I'll blog about it.

Not sure what I'm doing today, either, although I think we're going to a yarn store  and I might look for a pair of sandals for tomorrow. More family arriving today (including the ex and his wife), so probably dinner with everybody tonight.

DotD -- yay for intact suitcases! :)

Jenn -- yay for quieter-than-expected days! :)

Stop climbing Mt. Everest on the weekends and you won't be so tired. ;)

Have to spend three days in leadership training.

·
Description: We begin with a powerful simulation activity whereby participants get to experience the ways in which other key stakeholders experience their roles, and the ways in which they use power to meet role demands. Issues of role clarity, power, authority, and how individual leaders/managers can work together to minimize tensions between stakeholders will be presented. By working from a DHS-inspired case study, the outcomes from this course will serve as a foundation for how skill sets of your team members can be best utilized. This course will provide a foundational communications framework that can be used with all staff so that what people hear and respond to is clearer —and problem-solving becomes more efficient and effective. This course will also use an actual DHS scenario so participants can practice relevant problem-solving skills and communication “essentials.” Provide a quality-focused framework that will help you accomplish quality outcomes through collaboration even in situations where you do not have authority to guarantee engagement and collaboration. A final activity will be provided that links all the leadership skills explored throughout the training.

Just shoot me NOW!

i've been in and out. Lurking a lot.

Also, it 1100 miles from Halifax to Toronto. I rarely go there to eat.

But the Coffee chain in called Tim Hortons, not Tim Burtons lol

^^ :D

Feel so much better after a day of rest and quiet. Driving up to the Adirondacks today with my son. Supposed to rain all week, but maybe my sister's roses will bloom after that.

We buried my mom Saturday and the weather was nice and warm. She has a nice spot by her parents under the shade of a tree.

Nice sleeping weather last night. A cold front came through and dropped the temperature and humidity by quite a bit.

I'm tired. Now that I am old, one day does NOT constitute a big enough weekend.

I know this is going to sound odd but I'm glad that the recent funerals have gone well. It sounds like you guys have gotten some closure for your losses and some closeness with your families out of them.

Copy and Print was slow again today so Caitlin and I spent the morning drawing illustrations of the OD soundtrack song lyrics. It was fun.

I'm thinking about dying my hair again but I'm not sure if I want to go dark honey blonde, medium reddish brown (my actual color) or really dark dark brown. Any suggestions?

jenn - blonde is out? :)

saw doc, plan on returning around the first of june. need to find out from my captain where on the schedule i land.

have to try some Sketchers and the have a rolling bottom thing that will make walking easier for me.

have to spend the next ten days increasing the time i spend simply standing.

i miss my home state and need to find some way through that.

i'd rather not go back to work.

been up in the air about the fable and could use some advice. do i flush it out in hopes of making a proper story. or continue as is? i have the next batch of chapters ready to go - but i am paralyzed. it is hard for me to write prose, as i follow no rules with my poetry.

:LOLS: You're not kidding. Although it wasn't the climbing. On my way out on Sunday, came across a guy with two kids...they'd done a commercial abseil a few months back and wanted to do it themselves...caught him tying a rope he bought from a hardware store to an anchor in preparation for his kids to abseil off.

Had to stop him and try get him to understand that he was risking their lives.

(And that was just one of the things this weekend that contributed to my exhaustion. GF put both hands through a window late on Sat night, cut the shit out of her hands. That wasn't fun either. )

As someone who has put my fist through my share of windows I'm afraid to ask 8O

I find the round bottoms much much harder to walk on. I think they design them that way to make your muscles work harder and build up mass.

Ali, stakeholders seem to be the workers, customers/ consumers were the clients. It was another stupid training filled with role playing and nonsense. Of course they made a fatal error. They gave me the role of a consumer  . Make me sit in a training at 8am and they got the full monty. I screamed at them, told them they made big ass salaries and had big houses and I was pregnant with four kids stuck in a f - - king shelter and maybe I gotta go live with them. I think they actually got pale. Remember most of them have never even met a homeless person.

Anyway, two more days of this crap next month. I should be fired after two more sessions of role playing.

SCORE!!! Good for you, lorin. Thank you, from my homeless days. You rock. :R

Meeting with a person from my organization today. He wants to know what is really going on in Nigeria. 8O I am praying that I say what needs to be said and neither water it down nor freak out.

If WE were to role play, I would probably scream at him, You make bigass salaries and sit in air conditioned offices in the Adirondacks while I'm in Africa driving a 20-year-old car and eating meat that comes wrapped in flies!!!

:D

btw Av, thanks for stopping the doofus. Rappelling takes a lot of training.
